They’re stupid, but they were functional until the projectors were installed (really dim stock headlights made it sorta challenging to drive in the country after dark, even with the high-beams on).

Always wondered about the legality of this sort of thing here in Canada...? I find the headlights on my Accent quite dim on low beam and would love an upgrade...there are almost zero aftermarket anything for my Accent though!

IIRC, most Motomaster sealed beams in the 90s didn’t even have DOT numbers on them. Our headlight laws have more to do with aiming, reflectors and output than they do with construction.

Those lights remind me of the x100 toyota chaser almost minus the corners.
I do want to see someone do a serious build, like maybe a “ultimate street car” build on one of these. 400-500hp, manual transmission swap, lightened, handling mods.

True, but I could swear there was still a law somewhere saying headlamps couldn’t be modified (unless built aftermarket that way, so to speak) and had to be DOT or E-Code stamped?

Hmmm, it might be a provincial thing come to think of it. The only illegal headlight modifications in Ontario are tinted film cover the lens, and anything that reduces or blocks headlight output. Headlight retrofits are in a grey area in BC. The housing has to be stamped, but it doesn’t explicitly say anything about modifying said stamped housing.
