Update: I forgot it had one steel wheel on it already (original I think) So I’m just going to get three steelies.
Are alloy/aluminum wheels from somewhere like discount tire ok? I’ve heard bad things about aftermarket wheels cracking and such. But I just called discount tire and they said they’re having a sale on aluminum wheels (buy 3 get the 4th one free) so the total would be about the same as new steelies.
I wouldn’t be getting anything crazy like 22s, just 15s or 16s.
Also I’ve already checked a few junkyards as well as ebay and amazon and I can’t find any wheels that would be cheaper than $50 a pop (what it would be from discount) that would fit the Accord.

They’re usually not awful, but I don’t think I would do track days on them and I wouldn’t be surprised if they get damaged easily from potholes and the like.

I bought a set of Drag DR-38 wheels from Discount Tire. They’re Enkei GTC-01 knockoffs. They were actually really nice quality and light weight. Looking at the Discount Tire options for a ’98 Accord I also see a few from Konig and generally they’re good too. For 15s or 16s you’d be looking at around $90-105 each.

FWIW, most of the reps Discount Tire sells are actually properly JWL/VIA certified. I don’t see anything wrong with running them for daily duty, and plenty of LeMons teams have run them on track.

Caveat.
Some Chinese foundries will replicate markings as “style” such as certifications and bolt grades. Do some Googling anyway.

I bought a set of TSW wheels through Discount and used them on our Q7 for 2-3 years with no issues. It all depends on the brand. Reminds me, I also bought a set of wheels for our Caddy STS we used to have and had no issue in the 5 years+ that I ran those wheels. I don’t remember the brand though.

There are decent wheels to be found on Discount Tire or Tire Rack...the problem is that most of them are heavy as hell. That sadly applies to pretty much everything they sell for less than $100 a wheel, even for 15s and 16s.

My race rain wheels are MB wheels and they are fine. Make sure that whatever you buy works with standard nuts and that they do not require tuner spline drive nuts which I find to be a pain.

Like Ambit, for example. I should clarify that Discount Tire’s house brand (MB Wheels) puts out very solid (if a little heavy) wheels. Vision wheels are decent quality, and Vision was also sub-contracted to produce wheels for Hurst. Konigs are both JWL and TUV certified, so they’re a great choice overall. Discount Tire hasn’t really sold bad wheels in a while.

Does this gen of US Accord also have a rather rare bolt pattern/hub size combo? I had trouble finding a set of used wheels for winter duty for my ‘99 Euro Accord. AFAIK they used the same axles track width, etc on all three version and only accounted for different body width by using different offsets.

Hit or miss, depending on brand. Ditto with Tire Rack. Do your research on brands and models. You can’t really go wrong with companies that make OEM wheels (Enkei, BBS, moda, etc.), but if it seems too cheap to be true, there’s probably a reason.

I forgot it already had one steel wheel that fits, so I’m just getting three steelies. It already has the spline nuts, but I bought the key for them for $5. Are they that much of a pain? If so I’m sure I could get lugs from a junkyard for cheap.

I think so. It’s like 4x114.3 (May have swapped the 3 and 4) The only 4 bolts I could find were 4x100.
