You know who they sound like? Vector Aeromotive .

Kinja'd!!!

Both built some cars. Both announced a new car that’s faster than anything else in the world at 300mph. Importantly, both haven’t built that car yet .

Yes, it looks cool in the renders. Yes, the spec sheet has big numbers. But until it happens that means nothing .

Koenigsegg don’t do it this way. They don’t talk, they do . There was no dick swingin’ press release about how a theoretical ‘egg is faster than a Chiron. Instead, they built a car, then went around proving they’re faster. Koenigsegg do it right, because announcing a huge number before you’ve hit it is only setting yourself up to fail - even if the car hits 290mph (still faster than any other road car).

I don’t doubt they can do it. Even if it’s not 300mph, I think they’ll make a great car. I like the Venom. But it’s our duty to withhold our congratulations until it happens.

Although I agree with this for the most part, Hennessey actually got a car built, and Guinness verified them as a production automaker.

Vector was all fluff and no actual results.

I just wanted to point out that the Vector site isnt a site, it’s a picture of a site . Seriously, you can copy the image! I just find that so amusing!

Koenigsegg has the coolest name by far, so they win by default. Even if I can never spell it right.

Ah! Vector built several cars. And they did it from scratch rather than taking a production car and heavily modifying it. You could argue Hen are still little more than a parts shop, and are well behind Vektor in that sense.

You could make that argument, but it was the old Vector that produced actual cars.

The modern Vector that’s claiming the 300 mph hypercar hasn’t done jack.

Oh I didn’t know they weren’t the same company. I suppose that makes sense.

From another perspective, John Hennessey makes all his money with his Tuning “School”, the inevitable supercharging of every production pushrod engine, and the sponsor deals with companies like Pennzoil. He also tends to have a nasty habit of bilking people out of their money and doing shady business, so he’s gotta use some patriotism and halo cars made out of used Lotus Elises (still angers me on this, seriously, you’re paying a million dollars and Hennessey still couldn’t get one directly from the showroom?) to further whatever he intends to piss money on. Plus, Hennessey is 2 years late on revealing the F5.

Koenigsegg is run by a brilliant genius who has a mind for business and engineering. For instance, all of his cars from the start have used the same windshield. This means he doesn’t have to piss away money on R&D costs with a new windshield for each model. Koenigsegg also has some patents, particularly with FlexFuel stuff that car makers license from him. Therefore, Koenigsegg has money to develop products that aren’t vaporware. They also follow through with hype.

Vector’s Wiegert is a pretty smart person, but it seems like has pissed away his money on lawsuits involving Vector during the time the hostile takeover occurred. Interestingly, the Director/President of Vector, Jack McCormick, is dead but still listed on the website.

I’m not too concerned with how Henny makes his money (so long as it’s legal) and where the Elises come from. That’s the customers’ concern. I’m not American, he’s not in my backyard, I don’t hear the rumors. No matter who he is or why or how, if he can outdo Koenigsegg and Bugatti that’s something.

But saying he’s going to before he can do it - that’s what’s got posts all over Oppo. And it’s bullshit.
