Kinja'd!!!

One of the greatest ever...not just on the mound but by all accounts a great guy. As a Phillie fan I got to see him pitch and he never disappointed.

It makes me sad to see good people go...why couldn’t it be a shit like Donald.

I’m a Red Sox fan, so Doc victimized us regularly for most of his career. Guy was flat out incredible, my favorite non-Sox player of my lifetime. Just a hard nosed throwback who wanted to throw 9 every time he had the ball.

By all accounts he was an awesome guy off the field too. Way too soon.

Well said. I’m an Orioles fan, and when Doc pitched for Toronto he always dominated us as well. Not that it was hard to do so at the time, but he did it so consistently.

Honestly, whenever it happened I felt like Ron Burgundy talking to his dog, Baxter, after he ate an entire wheel of cheese and pooped in the refrigerator: I’m not even mad, that’s amazing.

Such a shame. So young, and from what I hear, a great guy, too.

When he was at his peak, he was a guy who was just awesome to watch, no matter who you were rooting for (I’m a Cub/White Sox fan).
