A standard size cereal box allegedly contains 10-15 “servings” of cereal. Which makes a single serving about enough for an anorexic ant.
I can usually get only 2 or 3 bowls at most out of a box. To see what an actual single serving looks like, I found this video:

How is it possible to consume 3 spoonfuls and that’s it? Is that an entire breakfast?
No, the cereal is part of a “complete” or “balanced” breakfast. It says so in the ads!

Why on earth would you drink orange juice along side sugar-y cereal? The only worse time to drink orange juice is after brushing your teeth.

Bowl one extra milk so when cereal is finished, pour more cereal. Then if there is more milk pour more cereal, then if you pour out too much cereal, add enough milk.

Serving sizes are not determined by a legal way, per se. So, some company could say 1 cup of cereal is a serving size, but then arbitrarily change that to 1/2 cup on a whim.
Hence, serving size is really just an arbitrary measure put forth by the man to make you consume more Frosted Mini-Wheats, which is fine by me.

A single serving is part of a complete breakfast, which also includes 3 eggs, 2 pieces of toast, hash browns, 4 sausage links, 6 cups of coffee and 2 bloody marys.
So, in that context, a small bowl makes sense.
As a standalone meal a serving = 1 box.
