My office is somewhere near DC, and I have recently learned that these are loud. They’re even louder when they’re practicing touch-and-goes for like half an hour. Windows rattling, floor shaking, etc.

So fucking loud. We’re nearish a hospital in NoVa, so get a decent amount of helicopter traffic, but the few times we’ve had these fly over you know immediately it’s something different.

Fun fact: when the Marines were developing these in the 80s, they were like “too stealthy and boring, need moar loud!”

I love the sound of these. The only aircraft I can positively identify on sound alone. Code Brown in Korengal.

I used to be in the SW, but they just moved our offices to right neat the White House.

Can confirm.

My office is on the Hudson overlooking the Statue of Liberty (that is in New Jersey) and they come down over the Hudson, loop around the statue and head back north.

I’m on the 16th floor, and they fly pretty low usually.

I see them touch and go at Teterboro Airport once in a while. They fly over the Hudson River as well. They’re loud but its awesome to see them flying.

Yup. There’s three major hospitals in Pittsburgh, plus the three local news channels, and the traffic from PIT , and we still noticed when two Ospreys from HMX-1 scouted the area back in ‘14 .

I am very excited to sit on 295 for 15 minutes, then another 15 minutes, only to choose my own adventure of 1) sitting on 295 for 30 minutes to get home at 5:30 or 2) sitting on rt50 for 15 minutes to also get home at 5:30.

I am going to drive down 295 from Greenbelt, hit 295 in DC and wait. Then go to 695 and wait. Then 395 and wait. Then Route 1 in Alexandria where I will want to kill myself since the last 1 mile takes 20 minutes. It’s hell. My morning drive is 30 minutes at roughly full throttle unless some jackoff is is the left lane making a phone call and only doing 60.

Perhaps off topic: I hate Maryland.

they sound weird too, and the noise seems to be oddly directional to me -

(My folks live about half mile from an outlying field for a local Navy air wing - super hornets/growlers do touch and gos a couple times a month - now that is loud..)
