We’re talking multiple years in the future not... but how can a boy not dream?

Kinja'd!!!

So, it doesn’t look like I’ll be able to afford a 2014 LS 460 any time soon... Still seeing many used examples well over 40 grand, low mileage examples pushing 55 Gs. Dramatic sigh for days.

Kinja'd!!!

I’ve accepted that these will never fall where I want them. They will be much like the Pontiac G8 GT: there will never be a justifiable price nor will there be any for sale anywhere ever. Especially the 6-speeds. I feel like if you get the SS, you HAVE the get the 6-speed.

Kinja'd!!!

A GS 350 F-sport (RWD) seems my best bet. Plenty of examples under $30,000, and sure to be more with the passage of time. Get me some o’ dat red leather.

Kinja'd!!!

I like the idea, but would I ever actually buy one? It’s only available with the 1.8T... I don’t think I’m going to drop coin on any car that has less power than my current ride. I don’t think I can ever go backwards on that one.

Kinja'd!!!

The Golf R would be a hell of a dark horse in this competition. I don’t think it fits my style of driving. I like comfort and straight line pedal-mashing when I need it, and just a few windy corners in between. But the R seems all fun all the time — fun is not how I’d describe myself personally, nor for my driving habits. Would love to test drive one, though.

Kinja'd!!!

I feel like I have to own one german luxury car before I kick the bucket, right? The E91 is and always will be in the back of my mind. I would prefer the NA V6 I got called out for saying V6 like a shady ad on Craigslist :( with a stick, and rear wheel drive. Ownership does scare me just a bit, but with how much I’ve already spent on my Lexus, I feel like I’m emotionally/financially prepared, as long as I shop for a good specimen. And seldom drive it like I am now. Plus, if I ever buy a house with a DECENT SIZED GARAGE [eye twitches], then my little Lexus will probably get lonely and a wagon friend to keep him company.

My parents may be getting a GS350 F Sport... it also may be a hydrolocked flood car that someone abandoned at the shop after getting the estimate. Still trying to figure out its date after the shop owners lien process goes through.

Those cost real money, not imaginary pesos. You could buy a few used Jukes for price of what you suggested.

I’m going to be completely honest, I have considered selling the BRZ for a GS350 F-sport. My only concern is I’d miss having a manual. But on the other hand, most of my driving is in stop and go traffic and having a super comfortable ride with sound isolation so I can have my music just above a whisper sounds divine.

Maybe you could sell me your SPERTKROSS then you’d have enough money for one of them fanceh cars.

Also I think the auto is more fitting for the SS. Since it’s basically an old school RWD, V8, 4 door American sedan. And you can’t convince me an automatic is not more fitting for that.

I love my e92 335i. I really recommend them as they are really cheap now, yet it’s still easy to find 1-owner, dealer maintained car with low miles. Do it!!

Solid list. I really really like those Lexus GS. I want one pretty bad, I heard they drive pretty well. Also, previous gen LS’ seem to be very cheap, I see high mileage models for under $20k all the time around me.

Also, my e90 328i has been very solid, I’d recommend the E91 strongly.

Don’t do it - I traded my Miata on a Lexus IS and regretted the decision for years. Modern Lexuses aren’t drivers cars.

I’m confused - your likes/style are basically where the Golf R excels. It’s supremely comfortable and quiet just cruising down the road and very powerful in a straight line, especially from a dig if you get one with DSG (4.5s to 60).

With good tires it handles significantly better than I thought it would. When I got rid of the 225 all-seasons on my S3 and bolted up new wheels with 255 summer tires, the handling is night and day. Amazing grip. A little more road noise, but amazing grip.

If you end up deciding you want more power, a simple tune can get you 50-60hp.

Probably more reliable than a new Alfa with a Ferrari engine-swap performed by a British automotive shop

The Golf R isn’t all fun all the time. When cruising or even driving around town it basically feels like a normal Golf, albeit with a little bit stiffer suspension. A lot people who were expecting a manic hot-hatch were actually let down by how mild-mannered it is in regular driving.

Compared to something like a Focus RS, WRX STi, or even something like a Miata the Golf R is downright boring unless it’s being thrashed.

I would have to disagree with you there. The current gen GS, especially in F Sport trim, is a legit sports sedan. Better than anything else in the segment.

My IS was a “F-Sport” too. I came to realize the “F” stood for “fake.” The RCF blows too, so I don’t see how the GS350 F-Sport can be a legit sports sedan, though admittedly I haven’t driven one.

Not at all - you’d be extremely satisfied. My IS was quiet, comfortable, luxurious and reliable. Lexus’s service is also second to none. Great experience whenever I had to go to the dealership.

Well then you can’t really know since you haven’t driven one. It really is a sports sedan. I’ve driven one on the track and Lexus really did their homework. Everything from the steering to the suspension reatcs just as it should.
