So, I totally went out and bought another rare Volvo yesterday... A 1980 242 GT, to be precise...
Have a picture of it in the Oakland Hills, overlooking San Francisco Bay.
Next step: DMV on Thursday to get tags... It’s currently on a Texas temporary permit, so... Gotta fix that with real plates. Already passed smog, so it should be pretty painless.

Ok, I’m not sure how I never noticed you here before, but I have nothing but admiration for you—first off, a woman in a male-dominated hobby deserves applause because, at least for me, there are so many people who can’t consider a gay man like me to love vehicles the way I do so I know what it can be like; secondly, your taste is simply exquisite! A Redblock swapped 262C? I was drooling. A nice 242 GT? Even better. What’s next, a 780 Turbo?! There are quite a few in the Bay, as I’ve grown up there for the past 18 years of my life ;)

I actually know someone with a PRV 780 that I can get for under $500. I’d have to drag it out to the Bay from Tennessee, but...
I totally get being queer and into cars, though. Being in the car scene as a woman, much less an out lesbian is...interesting, with Turbobricks being the one real exception... That’s part of why I do Volvos... The people are awesome, and there are a few openly LGBT men and women in the scene to help me feel less alone.

Yeah, it’s actually awesome within the community (at least on Oppo), but to “normies” it’s often inconceivable and incongruous. I haven’t experienced Turbobricks as much as Oppo persay since school and dorm life is preventing me from doing any tinkering (though I desperately want a RWD Redblock Vo project at some point in my life), but it’s awesome to hear that they have a great community there as well—little in life is more important than having a great car community IMO.

YES I SWEAR well actually my answer to “dream car” is pretty uninspiring because it’s a list of several hundred (yet to compile it fully) so I just say “Citroen SM” and fend off the resultant incredulity.
I’ve yet to get into the dating scene because school and life keeps me busy, but I have amazing friends so that I never feel like I’m socially lacking and I don’t think I’m ready to get emotionally vested into someone else quite yet. That and I’m still trying to ground myself here in Arizona where, surprisingly, literally a quarter of all people I meet are queer. In a “red state”, no less! I have a lesbian friend whose goal is to speak to no more than five straight students for the entire year and I do believe she’s making headway, so at least I’ve found a nice place to take shelter from the storm. Now to scope out where the car people reside...

Thats right you left the good old coast and moved there for school right? Well being at a college I am not surprised by the blueness of it. Most colleges are regardless of where they are located. I think it is due to the more acceptance of people the way they are so more people are being who they are. Which I am for. Be who you are/ want to be.
