I know it will be a while before NASCAR or IndyCar can race at COTA. But how are they going to do the pit lane? It’s not set up for “over the wall” type of pit stops. I’d guess they’d bring in a temporary wall or something.

Everyone stays in the garages (except the crew chiefs and analysts who’ll be in their little crew boxes along the fence), only 6 people allowed outside the garage when servicing the car?

From IndyCar at GMP, but I thing a 2' wide wall 3' tall would work at COTA, it’s defiantly wide enough.

All the pit boxes are always on the inside of the wall where the track side wall at COTA would just be vacant.

There aren’t enough garage spaces at COTA for everyone to have their own.

I mean, I do would love to see them try the open system here.

And I sure as shit wanna see NASCAR have a big-ass crew changing all four tires. One group per tire, one man per wheel nut.

IMSA already sets up a pit wall when they go to COTA.

Damnit, I can’t watch all the races all the time. Problem Solved! Get the paperwork sorted out and get them big heavy cars on road courses.

The biggest barrier to NASCAR and Indycar running at COTA is that the president of Texas Motor Speedway seems to think he has exclusive rights to those series in Texas and throws a fit every time it is mentioned.

But is this good for the sport?

No, I don’t think so. TMS may still have some contracts and such, and they will hold their ground as long as they can, but how many years will it take to run cota? I’m Not sure but it’ll be interesting to see how it unfolds.

Nothing in TMS’s contracts say the series can’t run at other tracks in Texas. The owner just thinks he’s entitled to no competition. I can see Indy going to COTA in the next few years but I doubt we would ever see the cup series there.
