Went to a couple breweries this afternoon. Had a brown ale at one and an IPA at the other.

I’m gonna say Woodford Reserve because it’s tasty. But it could be Basil Hayden or even Jefferson Voyage and can you tell I was on a bourbon kick lately?

I’ve got a Lagavulin 16 sitting on the shelf quietly judging me right now. Been trying to get some friends over before I crack it open but not sure that’s gonna happen any time soon.

Fine. You’ve got me convinced. Gonna round up the last few stupid dollar bills from my last trip to the States and buy some ginger ale.

I’d recommend trying to find a ginger with some ale instead. But that’s just me

I combined these two to make Pina Colada water.

Ok so explain to me what La Croix is and why it’s becoming stupidly popular lately.

Also I’ve come to realize I’ve not had a pinacolada (or mudslide) in quite some time.

It’s just a lightly flavored sparkling water. It’s not sweet like a soda, and isn’t loaded with artificial sweeteners since, well, it’s not sweet. I’ve been drinking it for years and was unaware that it was exploding in popularity lately.

I don’t care for the sugary nature of soda (or sweet tea for that matter) and I don’t like aspartame, saccharine or any of the various chemicals added to imitate sugar, so I’ve switched to sparkling water almost exclusively, and occasionally have some iced tea.

I do have one of those sodastream machines, and I will use that to carbonate some water and throw in some citrus juice of some sort. But when I find a deal on the La Croix coconut I’ll grab it instead of making my own.

I’m drinking this “so-fauncy” LaCroix Curate Cerise Limon with Smirnoff 100 and a squeezed lemon slice. Doesn’t sound like much, but it’s great.

I like LaCroix because it’s refreshing and hydrating, and you feel it in your stomach after you drink it, much like the delicious bourbon above.

Sure, it’s just slightly flavored club soda, but like Full said below, it’s a no-harm drink. No sweeteners, real or fake, just a little flavor and a lot of fizzy water.

Kids are in bed and I’m about to go out and clean the garage. So an old fashioned sounds good. The bourbon will keep me warm.

The best brews are those brewed with a purpose. How is it?

Woodford Reserve is damn tasty, one of my favorite bourbons.

I had Macallan Speymalt recently, that was great too.

As a fellow Oppo that also home brews I can appreciate that.

Recently crafted a Belgian strong ale the local brewmaster dubbed Monkeyface but we’ve proclaimed it the Monkeybutt Ale

Monkeybutt for fun, or did it get a wee bit funky?

I think for my next Wee Baby Ginge iteration, I’m going to be using much more ginger. I used 2 ounces rough chopped at 5 minutes, and it just barely comes through enough for me. I want it to be like having a kid - a kick in the teeth.

Monkeybutt since it proofed at nearly 7% vs the advertised 5.5%.

Ginger sounds like a great addition. Even if you overkill it it’s one of those flavors that’s tolerable and technically ginger is good for your stomach.
