325hp/380lb-ft with under 10k miles for $24k. Down from $33-38k originally. The 2.7TT V6 intrigues me.

Kinja'd!!!

Those are tuned Boostang (and TA) power figures in a fairly light sedan. Not bad at all.

Here’s one

At the original MSRP these were kinda meh, but with virtually no miles and $10k+ lower price I think they’re becoming pretty compelling.

I remember an oppo who’s mom had a fusion that had tons of fit and finish issues.

I’ve been eyeballing these as I’ve been looking alot at taurus sho’s. There’s a somewhat local dealer that has two of these with under 3k miles for under 25k.

The unfortunate part is that from looking at the Carfax, they were both lemon-lawed and had their power trains replaced. That makes me a bit nervous.

I can tell you that motor is a very good one,as myF150 has that same 2.7 tt. The packaging it took to turn that motor sideways and stuff it in the front of a Fusion is pretty impressive. They look nearly German under the hood. However, I don’t know if the posses the same method to the madness type servicing, or if they are just madness to work on.

Ford was a bit optimistic with the sticker on these and is throwing cash on the hood now. The Sport has something like $5k in offers from Ford before conditional offers and dealer discounts kick in. New ones go for $28-30k. That makes them much more compelling in their class vs. competitors that are down on power and not AWD. And it means the depreciation isn’t a much as it first seems, but the ones you posted are still pretty compelling.

One last thing - I’m pretty sure Ford rates the power on these with 93 octane. So expect a 15-20 hp drop if you want to run on regular.

I drove a Fusion with 2.5 Ecoboost for 2 weeks as a rental and it was way faster than I expected. The car overall even in rental spec surprised me with how good it was. I’m used to driving a Mercedes so I was yanking on knobs and knocking on dashboard panels to gauge the build quality and the whole car was solid.

This car seems like all of that x 2.

If you want to consider one, here’s the #1 rule to keep in mind - do NOT call this a “sport sedan”. This is no 335i or AMG or M-car or S-car competitor. What it actually is is a GT car with a domestic badge. Pretty high levels of refinement with boatloads of oomph designed to cruise highways and byways with no effort. If you can get one for cheap I struggle to see what cars can match what it offers for the price.

And I say that having just said that a well equipped Focus ST is in a similar boat. It’s a small GT-oriented car despite the hyper-hatch styling. I paid 19k for my FoST so hearing that new Fusion Sports are going for under 30k doesn’t surprise me. I guess it’s good for consumers that Ford is heaving money on the hood of every car but in the long run.....I worry about this plan. But for now, we can all benefit from a very good product at a very low price.

380 lb-ft in a Fusion...that’s really impressive. Would probably sound great with an exhaust.

If they’re lemon law buyback cars, STAY AWAY!!!!!

I owned a car once that I bought as a 14 month old CPO vehicle with 5200 miles on it. It then spent 31 days in and out of the shop for various maladies, in the span of only 3-1/2 months, before I courage it anymore and traded it in. It was a freaking nightmare. Even though it was under warranty and didn’t cost me any money, to not be able to rely on this car that I loved was horrible. Yeah, I still loved it. It was an ‘04 Pontiac GTO. Still to this day the coolest, nicest, fastest thing I’ve ever owned.

That is compelling. The Fusion is pretty, and dat torque curve.

I’ve had mine for a year now. Great car.

The power still surprises me. Handles well considering the size and weight, but it’s definitely not something I’d choose if I was looking for a car that lives for twisty roads. It’s been a great road trip car for my family (we have a dog and a 13 month old).

Be warned, gas mileage isn’t great. 8000 miles in so far and I’m averaging 18.4 mpg. That’s with a commute to work that is almost all highway. But, I tend to drive with more throttle than I probably should.

Yeah, I wouldn’t go near one of those. Way too much risk. Seeing two cars at one dealer with their power trains replaced makes me a bit nervous in regards to that particular model of car in general though. I’ll probably stick to looking for an SHO over the Fusion Sport for now.

I’ve driven one for a little while for work, I’ll try to keep this brief.

My biggest complaint is that it kinda has no soul. Yes, it’s quick. Yes, the AWD works pretty well. But there’s no real engine note, it’s all faked. It has an active noise cancellation system to get rid of more powertrain noise which sometimes goes wonky.

It is a pretty comfortable car, and certainly very quiet inside. Definitely a great sleeper too, because the grille looks just like the hybrid version but features real quad exhaust tips.

For $2x-k, probably not a bad commute vehicle and highway vehicle. But I can’t shake my first experience driving it somewhat aggressively: it was quick and the numbers on the dash showed that. I just didn’t feel it and never smiled like I do with a Fiesta/Focus ST or a GT350.

Longer term, the Lincoln MKZ which has the 3.0TT instead of 2.7 might be more interesting. The AWD gets 400hp/400tq and is downright fast (with optional drivers pack) while the FWD gets 350hp/400tq. My old manager drove the FWD, getting consistently upper 20s low 30s on the highway and tank averages near 25. And every stop you can light up the tires no problem.

A new car has no soul? Shocking.

New cars are great for comfort and peace of mind, but I can only think of a few that I would buy as a vehicular to really enjoy.

Very true. And it’s unfortunate, because the Fusion Sport could have been such a great car to enjoy. Unfortunately, Lincoln won’t let it have the 3.0L, for some reason the Drivers Pack was Lincoln only, and the biggest reason is probably that Ford Performance had no input like they do with ST/RS/Shelby stuff.

Yeah I don’t get that, i gues they just didn’t want to give the Focus RS any sort of competition.

WHOA better check out the prices on used MKZ 3.0TT’s. Same car-ish and when equipped with AWD gets 400/400.

I’m going to be eyeballing them next fall.
