I think the hate was MOSTLY about the tech, rather than the look.
but yeah, I thought the rear always looked off, and just felt moving the wing could REALLY help

Yeah, it’s more mechanical than aesthetic. These made the same power as the North American Si’s, and had a solid rear axle. The JDM and North American Civics at least had independent rear. In Japan, where both the FD2 (sedan) and this version were sold, the FD2 is routinely twice as much on the used market in the same condition.
