Kinja'd!!!

Need a car after selling the CLK. Logic and knowing how much I liked my old TDI tell me to get a GTI. More specifically, I’m interested in this one:

!!! UNKNOWN CONTENT TYPE !!!

Anyone else a GTI owner? I know there are some things to look out for like turbos failing ( http://www.golfmk7.com/forums/showthread.php?t=5276 ), plus there are some NHTSA recalls I’ll have to check are done.

Overall i think this is a pretty good purchase. the price is nice for the mileage and age.

Just buy a new 2017. You can pick one up for about 18-19. I was about to pull the trigger on one, but I ended up fixing my current DD.

Really? I’m in LA and the prices are like this. Where are you located?

That’s a fair price, but like someone else said, I’d recommend looking at new if you can swing $20k ish. I have a non-GTI golf and it’s been very reliable up to 30k miles.

Seems a little overpriced, especially for a 2015 base model.

Would be nicer to have a GTI with the Performance Package if possible, but the regular one is great too.

I’m still enjoying mine , with 2 3,000 miles and counting . There are some very minor squeaks and rattles, but that’s it. I actually think it’s a very reasonable buy to get a GTI, if the price is right.

Do you think this price is alright? Or should I move on?

It’s honestly the car most of us should have. The only thing it doesn’t do as well as my A4 is snow fun... but I have a beater Audi 90 for that.

edit: Get a Sport model so you get the awesome diff

I would say the price is not bad, but you may be able to find one near you at around the same price with a extended CPO warranty. I am a huge fan of the GTI, and I had a MKV, and would certainly buy a MK7 if I was in the market. Lighting package is a must, makes it look sooooo much better and you get the benefit of way better visibility.

I’m right outside dc and they always seem to be discounted to under $20k brand new a few times a year. Definitely search around.

North of DC. We have about 10 dealerships in the area, so I think that drives the prices down. I’d assume you’d have decent prices in LA. Here’s a listing. Mind you, it’s going to be closer to 19, but for a new car, it’s still a steal.

Horribly horribly overrated, I’m cannot wait to get rid of mine. It’s just cold, clinical, and boring. The car has no soul at all. It’s okay for speed but not quick, MAYBE with the LSD it would be okay, but I swore I’d never go back to wrong wheel drive and now I remember why.

Damn! I guess I should figure out how to buy a car from out of state then. CA prices are way too damn high.

Come on out. If you need a ride from the airport, let me know. You probably have a few more weeks before all of the 2017s are sold (my guess). I wouldn’t worry about the lighting package, the 2017 is an upgrade from the 2015. The fixed the bugs, and a few things were improved, like the center info screen. If it’s a few $s more, I’d take the new car with the new warranty, and a plane ticket out her. Then have a fun trip back.

I haz GTI. It is gud.

Ok, seriously though, it’s a 2017 Autobahn 6 speed manual and I like it a lot. I had a few clicking and squeaking issues, but so far the dealer has fixed them under warranty. Also had the adaptive radar go out of alignment. Again, fixed by dealer.

It’s a very good car for the money. Quick, handles great, solid build, nice interior. Good aftermarket for tunes if you want to go faster. I’m still stock, but I hear great things about APR and Burger Tuning JB4 tunes.

For some reason I can’t see the link right now, but my belief is that if I can afford it then I will get a better deal negotiating a new car purchase. I use the competing bid approach over a decent geographic area.

I love the lighting package and the LSD on mine, BTW.
