Wikipedia says Cubs had mostly wins against Padres in 1987, so I’m going to guess that, yes. I believe I recall they won. I certainly don’t recall being disappointed or upset, but I was also 4, so who knows if I even cared. And yes, this was at Wrigley.

I’m 40 and mostly grew up in Beaumont. Alan Ashby, Mike Scott, Kevin Bass, Kevin Young, Nolan Fucking Ryan... Those were the players I knew when I was young. There were others between here and there, but it seems like literally a lifetime ago we were “promising”, and it took this long to win the Series.
I’m not complaining, though.

I grew up in Houston, went to a lot of Astros games. Never really considered myself to be an Astros fan, not really invested in baseball at all, but this was pretty exciting to watch and I’m super happy my hometown has a World Series Championship now.
Now we just need the Texans to win a Super Bowl so all the Houston franchises have titles, and with Deshaun “The Truth” Watson it actually seems possible now!

I happened to be in Houston for game 7, first time I’ve been back in ~12 years. Picked up one of these on my way out... and I’m hoping to make it an annual thing. The team and the city earned this one and I think they could do it again.
