looking for new books to read. I think i have read all the current auto or cycle books in my collection at least twice so i need some ideas. my all time top 5 are Zen and the art of MC maintenance, The Gold Plated Porsche, Big Sids Vincati, Ghost Rider, The Mechanic’s Tale.

as you can see, those are not regular fiction types, but fiction is good too. thanks

would have included a sweet picture for your time and effort, but Kinja.

‘The Art of Racing in The Rain’ by Garth Stein. Fiction, but a good car read but you have to like dogs too.

Here’s a couple of the top of my head:

The Yugo: The Rise and Fall of the World’s Worst Car by Jason Vuic.

Life at the Limit and Beyond the Limit by Professor Sid Watkins.

On The Road - Jack Kerouac. Really an amazing book that takes place in a special time in America. Culture was changing, travel was changing, there were still railroad bums as well as the start of the interstates.

The Rider - Tim Krabbe. The best book ever on racing bikes. Bicycles that is. Short and wonderful book.

Ultimate Speed Secrets- Ross Bentley (Former race car driver, very good and very technical.)

High-Performance Handling for Street or Track- Don Alexander (Covers more mechanical/technical aspects of handling.)

Advanced Performance Driving- Reg Local (Former police driving instructer. No where near as techinal as Speed Secrets. More applicable to the street)

I haven’t read this in a while, but it’s pretty goofy and entertaining, and has a little bit of useful information IIRC.

PS: I got all of these with the Amazon Kindle app. Idk how hard these are to get a hardcopy.

Jupiter’s Travels is maybe the pinnacle of motorcycle travel books.

If you’re looking for some just straight up travel writing I go to advrider.com and read the ride reports there from time to time. Some of those folks tell some pretty good stories.

Ben Collins - the man in the white suit

Kinja'd!!!

It’s a great read even if you aren’t a top gear fan because its really about the pure adrenaline rush of performance driving any kind of vehicle in any kind of weather. The 3 Amigos from TG barely make a cameo as Ben takes you on a first person thrill-ride with more action and death defying stunts than the (now closed, sadly) Disney Lights! Motors! Action! show.
