The styling on this isn’t exactly the slickest, but it receives time and date from the atomic clock, it’s very easy to change time zones when traveling, and it’s solar powered.
I bought mine in 2012 and it’s still on Citizen’s website . Go figure. I’ve yet to use any of the stopwatch functions, or whatever the hell a tachymeter is.
All the Citizen atomic watches are at least this busy looking, or more, and I like all the stuff it does.

This is why I dislike MVMT watches. If the design was truly minimalist, it’d be useful.
If true minimalism is the bare essentials with no ornamentation and MVMT design is pure ornamentation at the expensive of usefulness, their aesthetic is actually the opposite of minimalism.

I see the $100-150 range that MVMT is participating in as borderline cheap as well, though - especially seeing as it’s quartz.
And, the Caterham Seven option is actually legit cheap in some markets - a base Seven 160 is £19,995 with a factory build in the UK - although that isn’t exactly “quality materials”.

I need to up my watch collection. I have an oldie from my great grandfather that needs a new band. The watch itself isn’t anything too special, but it was from him and has our yacht club burgee on the face, so it has tons of sentimental value.

In the watch marketplace, $100 seems cheap to me, but it’s all relative. A $60k car seems cheap compared with a $2mm superdupercar.

If it were mechanical, it’d be a cheap mechanical, but for quartz, yeah, I’d say $100-150 is only borderline cheap. (I’ll give Seiko Spring Drives a pass, though. Yes, they’re quartz, but they’re... different.)

It’s part of Seiko’s Recraft Series , bringing back retro designs with a bit of a modern twist.
At this point I won’t buy a watch unless it has some sort of additional functionality over just telling time, whether it be day/date, chronograph, rotating bezel, etc.

Thank you. I have a few others, but this one works really well as an everyday watch. I know this is gonna sound really bullshit, but it actually changes the way you think about the day after wearing it for a while. You can physically see the entire 24 hours and can break it up into its chunks and see what proportions of it you’re using on what. It’s also kind of disconcerting because it moves so slow, you can’t see it turn so you just have to trust that it’s working. It’s also not the most accurate way of determining what time it is, but that’s why phones exist. Link to website

My Heuer 844 today, usually wearing that with a grey black Bond Nato strap. Lately bought a Ben & Sons Pantera with I think has a Citizen movement. My other watches include an Invicta 8926 with Seiko NH25A movement, a Breed Genaro with Seiko movement , one Pulsar dress watch and a bunch of various model Timex Ironmans and a Stealth.
