As much as I’m going to miss the S600, car shopping is one of my favorite things ever.

!!! UNKNOWN CONTENT TYPE !!!

!!! UNKNOWN CONTENT TYPE !!!

These two LS460s are currently front runners for my next car, though I’m open to other suggestions as well. My criteria are basically AWD V8/RWD V12, Full size luxury, no BMW or Audi/VAG. Newer than 2012 preferably, with no Air/Hydraulic(Go fuck yourself Gen 1 ABC) suspension. Color isn’t important, so long as it’s not white. I don’t have much brand loyalty, though I am convinced Lexus knows what they’re doing. Price is pretty much anything from $35-42,000.

E-class. Newer ones are quite reliable and they’re quite luxurious. 2014s are in your price range or below. Compared to the era of S600 you have, they’re at least on a par, if not better, in luxury, while being night-and-day more reliable.

As a car enthusiast I am never not car shopping. It’s such a nice way to waste time.

I know it’s an oddball but K900's with the V8 have depreciated astronomically. An LS though is a hell of a choice.

It’s a bit smaller but a Chevy SS is pretty damn nice MSRP of
$48k.

Vicente is right. A K900 or Equus is right up your alley, in fact below your price range. If you like Lexus, these should appeal to you.

Also a Jaguar XF or XJ

Alright dude, I know you want to get something reliable, but going from an S600 to a LS460 might be too big of a jump, ya know? You need in-betweener, to ease yourself into what its like to have a reliable car, don’t do it all at once...

I present to you; a 2014 Jaguar XJ R Long Wheelbase . Its a bit outside your price range, but the mileage is low, and the color is fairly unique. You’re welcome.

What about an Infiniti M56x a.k.a. Q70 5.6 AWD? There’s also a stretched version if for some reason you want a longer wheelbase.

To which do you refer? I don’t know about the recent Jags personally, but my general understanding is that their quality is pretty good these days. I don’t know about the slightly older ones with more miles on them.

The K900 and Equus are good cars. I own a K900. The quality is strong.

Airmatic isn’t comparable to ABC in terms of awfulness at all ? No crippling engine issues. Is it comparable to a 220 S600 at all in any way ?

Kinja'd!!! "AMGtech - now with more recalls!" (amgtech)
11/01/2017 at 22:03, STARS: 0

No. No. And no. Air struts can be expensive, over a grand, but that’s nothing compared to what you spend on ABC every month. Plus, they’re not very common anyways. I’ve done less than 5 total on 212's and 221's combined. I hear they’re more common in hotter climates but that’s not an issue for you. The 278 has been excellent.

I wish I could brag like I always do, but my blower motor controler is intermittent, my Distronic finally quit, my rear brakes are less than 20%, I need a new left inner tie rod, my rear main is now bad enough that I leave puddles, and I caught misfires at 4,000 rpm trying to put a Chevy SS in it’s place on Tuesday night so I’ve got coil pack troubles.

And my interview to go back to Enterprise isn’t until next week so I still have 0 money for repairs.

I mean, you probably get the same performace with the 8 in a smaller car as the 12 in the bigger one.

I would buy an E550 wagon in a heartbeat, but we don’t get that here anymore. I don’t know. Hard to say, but the color makes it incredibly enticing to me.

Yeah, I’m not a super huge fan of the W212, though I was talking with the owner of Feldmann about possibly getting a good lease deal on a new E63S. I’m pretty sure I could swing the payments because of the lack of need to save for repairs.

Lol. I went to go take pictures of the S600 for the BaT listing and I got a white ABC warning. My front accumulators died less than a week after having the pump replaced. The dealer is taking care of it free of charge as a favor, but god damn, I can’t get rid of this thing soon enough. On th bright side, my SA said that he could probably write me an extended warranty for that S550.
