I would not get a base model. The 2.0L 4 cyl sucks, it’s Macan S or nothing. I’ve driven both.

In theory I kinda like the Sportage with the turbo motor but in fully-loaded form it’s only a couple grand less than the similarly-equipped and less ugly Santa Fe Sport. Both are noticeably slower than the Escape 2.0T with the same 240 hp rating, but the Escape is kind of a pile of crap otherwise.

I think why I love the Macan so much is that it’s basically a hot hatch masquerading as a CUV.
The Renegade and Sportage just aren’t that.
