I saw it in the theater. I enjoyed it. I did not go in expecting it to be like the books at all, and it wasn’t. And it also was. There’s only so much of a 7 book saga that they could have touched on in two hours, and I got the feeling it was made more for the fans, not to tell a story from new and bring in new people unfamiliar with the series.
And yeah, I could dl and watch it at work, but there’s not enough time left in the day and I’d get interrupted too much and would lose my immersion.

I think, yes, it’s the audience to a large extent. Lots of critics panned those Star Trek prequels, and I’ve watched the blurays at least twice each. And Daniel Craig is the best Bond, and I’ll watch those until I wear out the discs, if that’s possible.

See! That’s what I was hoping for! I bet it does the same to me. It got bad reviews because it wasn’t enough/or not close enough to the book for peeps or was criticized by those who don’t really grasp the true meat of the story. I bet if I sat back and watched it: I’d feel the ka, hear the call of the beam and then stand and be true to the tale set before me!
