It was also close to the World Trade Center, a mosque, a church, a homeless shelter, the projects, a police holding area, about 60 delis, and literally every type of structure or organization under the sun. It’s sickening and unnerving for sure (I work a literal block from where the time square pedestrian thing happened) but in a city this dense you can’t jaywalk without being close to a school. Really doubt it’s related - but that’s not to suggest that makes it any less tragic.

Watching live.
Supposedly the guy drove a rented Home Depot truck eight blocks down a bike lane, then rammed a school bus. Perp came out of the truck screaming in Arabic (take that with a grain of salt) and holding two guns, one paintball, one BB. NYPD shot him twice, then took him into custody. Officials aren’t confirming casualties, but local media is saying 7 dead, 9 injured.

I figure they imagine themselves in that situation, with their handgun by their side like a cowboy. They spot any POC and watch them closely. As soon as the truck pulled into that bike trail, they swing into action and head shot the guy before anyone was harmed. Trump gives them a metal and their tiny boner is forever very faintly erect
