I’m strongly considering selling one of my 1/18 models that’s worth around $300. With that money I have 4 options:

A) Save it. I’m in college. Financially I’m ok but have no income since I’ve been unable to get a job. I do have an emergency fund but obviously more padding the better.

B) Pay for my college. I owe my parents some money for college and this would go a decent way towards paying that debt.

C) Put it towards a new phone. My current phone is a 2 year old Motorola Droid Turbo, which is aging rapidly. I’d be looking at getting a new/newer iPhone, partly for the connectivity to other iPhones (plus I like the features, among other things).

D) Buy an ECU reflash for my TSX. It’d increase the power, the torque, lower the VTEC point, raise the rev limiter, evens out the torque curve, and improves fuel economy. Also there’s no reliability issues from this that I’ve seen, but make this change to a car with 192k miles is concerning. Still I think it’d be fun and really help the weak points of the driving experience.

The answer is A to put you in a place to satisfy C or B as the need arises.

Lifestyle creep is something you’ll have to learn to deal with after school and it’s best to learn to not behave that way now. Every dollar that comes in doesn’t need to be spent.

A new phone can be a necessity, but if your current phone is working fine and you just want it for the features, then it probably isn’t; when it becomes a necessity, then spend the money.

Paying down that debt is admirable and important, but while you’re in college and that debt isn’t accruing interest and you have no cash flow it’s best to just let it ride until you can make more meaningful dents once you have a job.

Don’t spend money tuning a 192k mile car unless you’re debt-free, employed, and bored.

A or B. C is dumb, phones are a terrible thing to spend money on when you don’t need to. D is wildly irresponsible.

As others have stated, don’t blow away the money – keep it, as nothing on your list sounds particularly pending.

Which brings the question – why are you selling your model in the first place? Is it safe to assume that it will only go up in value the longer you hold on to it? If yes, and if keeping it gives you satisfaction from having it in your life – why not hold on to it? You can always sell it later if things change, and maybe it will be worth a little bit more then too?

not   D ... that reflash will amuse you for a week or two before it feels normal again.

Source: I had an RSX-S with the Hondata reflash, also had a 1st get TSX auto that was more than quick enough for what it was.

unsure how much more value it’ll accrue, I like it but I’m not in love, I originally bought it to flip (bought for $120, worth around $300). It wouldn’t hurt anything to hold onto it, but it won’t do me any good for the next 4 years.

A or c. No sense messing with the car with that kind of mileage. And no sense paying back debt right now if you don’t have to. Once you start working, you can deal with the repayment.

we had a new project call the office while i was out when my son was born. I meet this guy for the first time and he asks how everything went. I mention this was number 3 and he recommends I should get snipped. I just found it to be a weird thing to say only 5 minutes after meeting someone.

The roof is the same, except I redid the shingles last year. And I did the garage’s roof too. Also changed all the old windows to match the new one and finally removed the old doors then did the exterior.

The old house is the top part.

I work 40 hours a week, and all this is done on my weekends, nights, and 3 weeks vacation since august 2014, and my daughter was 6 months old. I lost a month in 2015 to a knee surgery and had my son October 2015.

I spent late spring summer of 2016 doing the 2 roofs, changed all the old windows and did all the exterior untill the middle of fall.

Then lost 3 months on February 20th when my intestine decided to rupture. Then went back to work on June 1st and worked on my yard till mid august then I started my new bathroom. Built my shower base out of cement, then came the ceramic shower, floor and a wall.

See my reply to opposaurus for pics,

Here is my shower that we been using for 2 weeks now.

monolithic slabs like this don’t have to be dug down. but I do have 3 feet of foam skirt around my footing. I have a french drain a few inches under the foam. I have a a vapor barrier and 2 inches of blue foam all around and under my slab

I live in north western Quebec and not all municipalities accept these, only cause the are ignorant and don’t want to learn about them
