Kinja'd!!!

How are the conditions of my tires and discs? Any guesses on longevity?

Top picture is the rear and the next one is the front.

Kinja'd!!!

Tires are relatively recent.

That looks like it will last a while. I couldn’t say how long, but you should have no worries.

Look solid to me. Don’t forget the minimum thickness for rotors is typically stamped on the hat and can often be seen without removing the wheel. Usually shown in mm. As a general rule, I don’t start measuring rotors until there’s a distinctive “lip” on the outer edge.

Tires look fine — but your pics don’t show the wear indicator or a coin with Lincoln/Queen’s head on them.

All four corners are new pads and were swapped when the previous ones were at 15% meat.

Looks like you’ve got plenty of life left in both (really you should get some calipers and measure the thickness of your rotors, but I only see minimal heat stress cracks and looks like they are relatively close to new and I can’t see any significant lips).

Your lack of wear indicates that you are overdue for a trackday and/or some autocross. I prescribe one HPDE and at least two autocrosses or ice driving events (depending on your location).

(Not pictured - The brand spanking new front rotors I warped during a 135mph-60mph emergency brake)

those rotors look like new, and almost no rust.

tires seem to have at least 50% and more life on them so still good.

i did the fron rotors on the wifes 2011 elantra and they looked like this

(not my pic)

and the car only has 50000 kms

My eyeball gauge hasn’t been properly calibrated in a while, I think its a random guess on the discs.

They shouldn’t have truly warped even braking from that speed. Were the lugs properly torqued?

Most “warped” rotors are really just unequal pad material distribution on the rotor surface. Some judicious bedding sanding, or machining will get rid of that. A single stopping event should not be capable of damaging your brakes.

Wear and damage accumulates usually from successive stops that build up the heat in the system (especially if you have little time or moving air between stops).

135mph-60mph is easier on your brakes than 80mph-0mph (at higher speeds air resistance aids more in your braking, and the only energy the brakes have to get rid of is determined by the change in speed).

VW Dealership bamboozled me then, but it did feel weird after that. They were the rotors that cam with the car, so I can’t attest to quality, but these are OE.

Tires look good but it would be easier to tell in a photo where the wear bars are visible. Rotors look fine but how much meat is left on the pads?

My mistake, those rotors weren’t new, those were the old ones I apparently didn’t warp, but the dealership said they needed to be replaced. Those were the rotors that came with the car.

Queen answer: Buddy you’re just fine, hold the line, take your time, you know you’re gonna buy some new tires someday, you got two or three years, no need to fear, save up your cash and buy you some beers!

That makes more sense, if you get uneven pad material build up on the rotors they can wear unevenly and get wavy (warped). It’s a similar process to how you get wash-boarding on dirt roads.

If the rotors have enough material, you can machine them flat again; however, usually by the time the rotors are bad enough to need to be machined there isn’t enough metal left to be worthwhile (machining rotors usually costs 1/2-2/3rds of the cost of new rotors).

Normal people don’t spend too much time thinking about brakes and tires, but for many of us oppo nerds, they are towards the top of our mental Rolodex.

Rotors look good, but can only be certain if measured with a pair of calipers.

Most obvious sign of worn rotors will form a lip on the edge
