Kinja'd!!!

This morning, as my Lyft ride from my alignment shop to my office pulled into the driveway at work, the shaking of the car caused me to spill a bunch of coffee all over my right thigh. Oh, and I’m wearing gray pants. Instead of yelling FUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUCK in the Lyft car, I kept it together and sprung into action.

I collected my things, tipped the Lyft driver through the app, proceeded directly to the bathroom, used several wet paper towels to sop up the coffee/saturate that section of my pants with water, then walked to my office, using my bag to strategically hide the wet spot on my leg, and got to work while I waited for my pants to dry.

!!! UNKNOWN CONTENT TYPE !!!

My pants are now dry, and 100% coffee stain free.

Kinja'd!!!

I do have a bit of a lingering coffee smell hanging on me, but I can live with that.

You sprang into action, after the coffee had sprung out of the cup.

I’ve heard that black coffee doesn’t stain. It’s the sugar and cream that cause the discoloration to stay. I have never tested this theory so try at your own risk.

It does stain my plastic tumbler though, so the advice up top may be hocus pocus

This wasn’t black coffee though.

I’m pretty sure I avoided a stain because I diluted the coffee with a bunch of water before the coffee had any chance to dry.

Oh, never mind then haha. Good job with the swift action either way. The dilution saved you for sure. I keep a tide pen handy bc I spill all the time but they are typically useless for a big spill like coffee.

Does your work still have that kick-ass coffee machine?

If you mean this , yes it’s still here. The only thing is I’ve moved offices to the other side of the building.

That machine is in the 3rd floor mini kitchen area which is directly above my old office, which was 2 doors down from the stairs. Now to get to that machine I have to not only go upstairs but also go all the way to the other side of the building.

I usually bring a tumbler of good coffee from home so I only occasionally refill at work. But since moving offices, I’ve resorted to getting those refills from the 2nd floor main kitchen which is around the corner from my new office. Even though the coffee there is pre-ground and brewed into a big carafe.

The last few times I drank that coffee it was kinda terrible though, and I’m feeling a hankering for a refill today, so might be time to resume going upstairs. There’s a VP I need to bug about something whose office is near that machine.

Sounds like a good excuse to stop by for a refill, since you are already up there :)

We have the generic huge can of beans and a drip machine with carafe/burner. If I don’t bring coffee from home, I’ll just go right to the break area, dump all the burner coffee and make a fresh pot. It’s still not what I would call good, but it is at least drinkable that way.

I got a refill from the good machine, but the dude wasn’t in his office. Oh well. Coffee is important.

You probably made up for the wasted time with increased productivity from your refill haha
