Saturday marked my one year anniversary of trading up from a Ford Focus to the Boostang.

Kinja'd!!!

The Mustang was a giant leap in the right direction for me. This is much more a car suited to me than the Focus ever was. I have never denied the need for fuel effeciency, but I have also never been an adherent to the thought of MPG over all other attributes that I sometimes see in others. I’m also not someone who needs that howl of a V8 engine, despite some assertions that the Ecoboost Mustang isn’t a real Mustang because of the 4cyl. This is the decendent of the SVO Mustang of the 80's.

Though I was much happier in this car straight from delivery than I was in the Focus, I was never one to be content to leave well enough alone. So “improvements” had to be made. Or maybe I’m just a huge proponent of modifying your car to fit yourself even better.

Today, while this is the same car in nearly every way, there are a lot of things done that make it “My Mustang”. OK, it’s a little faster than stock, and handles just a little better than stock, and I think looks a little better than stock, but maybe that’s just me...

Exterior:
Mustang GT grille, with custom painted accents.
Wider aftermarket wheels
Carbon fiber accents on mirrors, upper rear wing and front turn signals
LED 4th brake light and LED rear side markers

Kinja'd!!!

Underhood and underneath:
Eibach Springs
Steeda strut brace, lower K Brace and Rear Bushings
Mishimoto Intake, oil catch can, and Intercooler piping
CPe Intercooler
Gibson catback exhaust
Lots of small touches and covers for ugly bits.

Interior:
Shift ball replacement.
Guess what’s on the plan for this year?

If your path is similar to mine, a GT is on the plan for year 2.

Just go to the Mountune site and “add to cart”

Brakes: https://www.mountuneusa.com/Ford-Performance-Mustang-Performance-Pack-6-Piston-p/m-2300-v.htm +

Exhaust: https://www.mountuneusa.com/mountune-Mustang-Ecoboost-Exhaust-System-p/2523-cbe-aa.htm

Short throw: https://www.mountuneusa.com/Ford-Performance-Racing-Short-Shifter-Kit-Mustang-p/m-7210-m8.htm

That should add a little more fun!

Those wheels are a huuuge improvement. Idk what Ford was thinking with those fat five spokes.

I like the 5 spokes, just not in black

I do like them in silver. I’m going to use my stockers for race rubber next year. Thinking about plasti-dipping them some obnoxious color first though...

I’m at 3 weeks in on moving from a Mini to a Camaro SS 1LE. Truth be told, I could have been quite happy with a V6 1LE. Not that it matters now.

I’m still wondering how fantastically my Camaro is going to empty my bank account with various bolt-ons. I’ve been restrained so far with only the addition of the strut tower brace under the hood. But the list is not that cheap:

Narrower wheels (as compared to a V8 1LE, maybe a standard SS set if they clear the massive Brembo calipers) for street use (so I can have slightly cheaper A/S tires that work in cold weather)

Knee pads to replace the hard plastic bits on the dash

SEMA grille so I can install the tow hook and leave it on the car (otherwise there is a big hole where the tow hook cover goes)

I’m sure I’m missing some others...

I dipped my stock wheels gold to see what it looked like. Gold actually goes well with lightning blue, but gold dip has a greenish hue so I’d avoid it. Maybe a copper? White would look good but turn grey immediately with the brake dust.

I had picked up the silver ecoboost PP rims for autox duty last year, then when I got the GT they became my dailies and I got the silver GTPP wheels for autox. Now I want some lighter wheels for autox, not just to save weight for performance but also to save my damn back when I change them over: the GTPP wheels with tires are like 65 pounds, it’s absurd.

I did gold on my Focus. It looked good, but the secret was a coat of Metallic Bronze on top of the gold.

I’m thinking something truly obnoxious like Blaze Green.
