I get motorcyclists being more sensitive to bad drivers, but the high and mighty mentality that some get, like it’s their duty to enforce vigilante justice on the road, bothers me a lot.

I’ll expand that to all drivers, honestly. It’s not their duty to enforce the rules and the laws. Someone wants to pass you on the shoulder? Don’t swerve at them or block them - be aware, and keep yourself safe. Take a deep breath and get there safely.

My wife (as a passenger) loves to wag a finger at people like an old-timey schoolmarm. It’s funny because people know what it means, but it’s also not offensive enough to escalate tensions and nobody ever gives her the finger. It’s really pretty hilarious. Slow escalation ftw.

I had a lady do the “immediate signal and move over” maneuver into my lane the other day on the interstate. I beeped and she moved back. As I passed her, I saw that she was on the phone (holding it with her left hand). I honked again and tried to give her the international “put the fucking phone down” gesture, but she refused to look at me.

It is a given these days that people will be on their phone while they drive. It’s horrible but I don’t think I am the helmeted savior that will stop it. But I can make sure to ride defensively and get away from these type of people.

You’re lucky she signalled. I’ve had several people lately just change lanes without touching the stalk because that’s their phone-holding-to-ear hand.
Last night the guy in the Prius that stopped in the right lane several car lengths short of the intersection at least signalled before cutting in front of me to get in my lane to turn left. I mean, he was stopped and turned his wheels before signalling, but at least he used it?

I was asked on one of my own videos why I always seemed to speed away after someone does something dumb in traffic.... because I want to distance myself quickly from the stupidity before it spreads and catches me.
