So I managed to find this Russian dude who made red Logo door cards, and with the new door, I have an extra door card to mess around with that doesn’t color match anyway. This is why I won’t be doing it in red. It’s too much. So what I’m going to do instead? I need your help to decide:
Remember, the idea here is that I’m trying to think of a “Logo Type-R” concept interior. I have a DC2 ITR steering wheel, DC5 seats, and an EP3 carpet. I’m not duplicating any of the Type Rs exactly, it would be impossible anyway.
There are two options I am considering: wrapping the entire door card in black/dark gray vinyl with a triangular sort of red mesh fabric insert above and/or somewhat including the arm rest like the DC5/Ep3...
Or wrapping the entire door card in black/dark gray vinyle and the arm rest with the same kind of red mesh fabric like the EK9:

i vote for go panda... strip and add lightness...paint what needs painting and have the bare minimum of covered parts

Not possible, there are mostly large holes in the door behind the door card. The Logo cards are already minimal.

I say just cover the arm rest red and leave the rest of it black vinyl.

Not an option I considered, but the color scheme matches. But it doesn’t quite feel like a Type R option. It does harken back to some classic Honda design language though.

I wasn’t necessarily making the case for that specific plaid, just plaid in general would be neat-o.
I happen to like mine so much that I bought some seat fabric from an online vendor and had a shift boot custom-made by a local upholstery shop.

A possible option would be to go the Porsche route and do black on top and color on the bottom. Since the Logo door cards seem to be relatively flat, it probably wouldn’t be too difficult to put a seam say... 10-15cm from the top, where the material changes from black to red.

My BMW was like that too. But considering the bottom of the door is already the silver metal of the door frame itself, I think that might not be such a good idea...

I like the ep3 look.
The red armrests are a good look too. My concern would be dirt and grime in an area that sees a lot of use as a major touch point of the interior.
Don’t know how you pull off the ep3 look with the door cards you have. There doesn’t appear to be a separate panel like this in the ones you have, right? An opportunity to get creative!

I know how to make inserts, so that’s not an issue. I won’t be ripping up the current door card, I’ll merely be putting over a new cover.

I vote for the red inserts they should keep better. Also I would match the black or gray to the top of the dash (I can’t tell what the actual color is.)

The Ep3, it creates a bit of space between the red allowing a higher contrast so it pops a bit more compared to the armrest portion almost flowing into your red seat.
