So the video reminded me... I’ve got 3-4 more years before the 159/Brera/Spider is available for import.

Kinja'd!!!

Just wondering will there be any left that isn’t all rusted out or engine dead by then.

i thought it was 25 years before legal import?... far as i can tell the 159 was made in 2006... soo legal by 2031... dunno if any will be left by then... but they are cheap.. found clean ones for around 4 grand... this 2008 is asking 8 grand

Only initially. The only viable enthusiast option is a manual 159 SW 3.2 JTS V6 24V Q4.

That could easily be random letters and numbers

those are sitting around 12 grand here at mo and still depreciating... but theres a lot fewer of them on the market... im thinking when canada can get them they’ll still be pretty cheap... by the time the states gets them the few clean survivors will probably go for unicorn money..

What are the laws regarding registering a car in Ontario? Do you have to be a resident?

I’m not sure about foreigners, but I think you need to have an Ontario DL, car registration is attached to that.

But the 15 year rule applies Canada-wide, it’s federal.

I don’t really care for most modern Alfas. Besides the 8C and the Giulia Quadrifolio the only other Alfa I want would be the 159 3.2 V6 JTS Q4

I’ll take the body of the 159 and the drivetrain of the Giulia (any, not just the Quadrifoglio.)

There’s plenty still in the U.K. Autotrader has 145 Alfas from between 2003 and 2006.

Spiders for 2006 are rare with this being the only one on Autotrader, add 2007 into the mix and there’s 33 Spiders.

I know the 15yr is federal. I’m right across from Sarnia is why I asked about it. I wondered if I could one day register a car over there and use it here you know.

I think that actually has more to do with your state’s DMV rather than licensing in Ontario. They would probably have requirements that if you are a resident there, your car must be registered and plated, thus officially imported into the US. I know New York state has such requirements, think it’s like 90 or more days.

And then there’s the topic of you getting insurance for an Ontario registered vehicle... and I can tell you Ontario has the highest insurance of Canada.

Well preferably I want to import one from a LHD country, like you know, we drive on the correct side of the road. ;)

No, you drive on the right side of the road, we drive on the correct side of the road. The other colonies get that. How very French and American of you. Lol.

Your best bet for a good Alfa is Italy, because obvious and Germany and Holland because of strict inspection systems so the body and drivetrain would be better looked after.

15 in Canada, 25 in the U.S. only.

Nice.

In Aus we can import anything that’s not already sold here. But Alfas are ;)
