Saw one of these on my way back from lunch today. Not sure which variant of the 356, but it was a convertible/cabriolet. It looked real nice in black.

One of my dream projects is a 356 B coupe kit. One company makes a vary convincing one. It’s about 30,000 for the full tube chassis, suspensio, brakes, and axels, fiberglass body, and OEM style reproduction interior. Along with a widening harness for either a VW or Subaru engine.

Above is a Speedster built from 1954-58. Here’s what all of the other 356 cabriolet variants look like:

356 pre A cabriolet (1950-1955) noted by bent windshield. My dad had one of these as his first car (‘53) with a 1300cc engine.

356A cabriolet (1956-59) My dad’s second car was a ‘58 1600 coupe.

The next two versions are models that replaced the Speedster still with a stripped down interior but now included a taller windscreen, roll up windows and a better top.

I definitely recall seeing the bent windshield. The driver had the top down. Thought it was kind of odd on a car that seemed to be made up of only curves.

They originally had a frame in the middle before it was a single piece of glass
