Went to RFK last Sunday for DC United’s last match, and the last game period, at the 56-year-old concrete donut. Got some pretty good pics and I’ve developed an article I’d like to post.

Went to all five World Cup games at RFK in ‘94. Had seats in the first row in the left field corner of the upper deck, which were spectacular due to the way the deck overhangs.

I’ve been to RFK too many times to count and currently live close enough that people with Ward 6 stickers park on my street and walk there. I still can’t believe that upper deck hasn’t fallen off yet. I remember being there for a Washington Area Football Team game and seeing chips of concrete rain down as the deck flexed up & down with the crowd in full throat.

I used to take the Orange line into DC for work when I was still living close to New Carrollton. I would pass by RFK stadium and overlook the parking lot and imagine what it would have been like to turn the parking lot into a makeshift race course with the stadium as a backdrop.
I’m going to miss RFK Stadium.
