It’s nearly 4am U.K. time.

Not much on TV, pretty quiet on here, had something to eat a couple of hours ago.

Kinja'd!!!

Kinja'd!!!

So question is, should I grab a beer or go to bed?

If you can drink only one beer before sleeping. Ok Go

I’ve often started to drink a beer to have some left in it in the morning.

I can have one beer.

But a beer before going to bed when there is nothing much going on rather than just going to bed is just putting it off and a waste of beer which should be enjoyed.

Enjoy a beer and then go to bed.

I’ve not had bangers and mash for years. It’s good with onion gravy with a hint of mustard.

No. I use a griddle pan just like this.

Kinja'd!!!

Put on the pan diagonally for two minutes, turn over, turn over again but in an opposite diagonal position and then turn over again. Gets a lovely diamond pattern, then add a knob of butter, let to melt them spoon the melted butter over the top, them remove and let it rest.

You didn’t steam the steak and the skin of the potatoes isn’t grossly floating around said potatoe... It even looks good! Are sure you’re British?

British through and through.

I’ve never heard of anyone steaming steak in the U.K. I’ve seen several articles over on ‘Skillet’ about it but never done it or even thought about it.

I’ve spent many “summers” in the UK in host families... Fuck me. That was one of the traumas of my youth (rich kid problems, I know).... I still dream of fucking potatoes with their skin, their entire skin, floating around the damn potato, not being attached anymore... haaaaaaaaaaaaa. Poor Potato... I hate you guys.... I hate you guys so much.... I’ve seen stuff during those summers. Stuff I can barely talk about anymore without bursting into tears some 15-20 years later.

Brits have ruin my entire youth and taste in life.

Lol. Let it out, your in a safe space here, let it out.

I can honestly say hand on heart I’ve never heard of steaming steak in the U.K. or anywhere else for that matter until I saw it on Skillet about sous vide and that was only in the last few months.

We have boiled New Potatoes which have their skin on but not removed and left with them. Generally the skin is peeled, scraped off or left on.

Where were you staying? Sounds odd.

I grew up coeliac (though been in remission for the last 20 years of my life) so my diet in early life wasn’t like most peoples.

Most of the time in Exeter and a bit in Southampton.... Fuck man... Those steaks... Dryer than my grand-mother...

Oh the south coast. Strange people.

Unfortunately in the eighties many didn’t cook for flavour and simply threw the food together.

Mostly a variety of potatoes, chips, peas, beans, sausages, chicken or turkey drummers or nuggets, many sandwiches but not many fillings, etc...

It’s a shame that still many don’t know how to cook a good steak.

There are at least five women I work with who say they don’t know how to cook it and that their husbands hate when they do because it’s awful. Many cook it until it’s the same colour all the way through and browned/charred on the outside.

Man... why did you have to write about those fucking beans!? I had forgotten about them!!! Noooo :(

But yeah, more seriously, coming from France to Britain I was in shock the first few trips. I had never seen so much disgusting things in my plates than I got in the UK... It was tough. Luckily you had Burger King!
