The amount of butter in the topping, & sugar on the apples made some caramel in the pan.

My aunt in Nova Scotia puts rhubarb on damn near everything. I spent a week with her once in middle school and I got so sick of rhubarb by the end I haven’t touched it in the 20 years since.
