For some reason, I kind of like the look of the 2015-2016 Chrysler 200, specifically the 200S (sidenote: I also like the Dodge Dart - so sue me ;P). Also, I understand the 200S with the 3.6L Pentastar V6 are pretty peppy yet comfortable cars.
I will be in the market for a 4 door family car within the next 9 months, and have these on my list to drive. Question is - are they really that bad?
How is it that a year old car with barely any miles on it can be this cheap?

I too like the looks, but have no experience with owning or operating one. The FCA reputation alone is enough to make me run far, far away.

They give a great first impression. But they’re shit boxes.
I work in a body shop and they’re awful to work on. Cheapest fasteners and the weirdest construction. Also they’ve had some of the worst OEM paint I’ve ever seen.
Sorta like every other FCA car.

Nah, they get points for something a little stylish, even if it’s crap. Someone in an Avenger? Like a Kia Sephia, it looks like something you’d buy because you can’t get anything else (a friend that filed for bankruptcy years ago bought a Sephia when his LeBaron crapped out...)

They look nice and had potential but FCA dropped the ball on the execution of them, per usual.

Pentastar is the way to go on these, if you do get one. My understanding is that the Tigershark was kind of a rushed design job, and has some pretty significant oil consumption issues.

My mother in law has a dart that she and I both love. Compared to her Cobalt, it’s a fucking Mercedes. As for the pentastar, they have a Dodge caravan with one, and I don’t think they’ve had any trouble with it.
Short version: for the crazy cheap prices, I think they’re probably fine. Just think of it like buying a (much older) S class.

My best friend has one, loves it. Pretty sure his is a 4-banger.
He’s not a car guy really, but used to work at a dealership parts & service counter, so he’s been in a lot of different cars.

I had one as a rental and I thought it was nice, I just didn’t fit in it. I don’t know what the limit is for height, but I’m about 6'6" and it was pretty hopeless.

Sounds like the general consensus is ‘ they look alright, good engine, bad transmission and bad quality construction overall’ - ie. there are better cars out there for the price...
