I just opened a 3 year old bottle of what has become a local legend. Usually the ginger fades over time, but man 2014 must have been a good year because it’s still there. Back on Beer Advocate’s old rating system this thing had a perfect 100, and I really think it’s well deserved.

I have a bottle of their raspberry stout from last year that I’m saving for a special occasion. I will not miss the gingerbread stout this year.
As for tonight, I finished off the last of my All Neon Like from Triple Crossing. Mmm, galaxy hops.

Agreed! I wish stouts were released year round like IPAs but oh well, makes me cherish them that much more :)

If you’re ever in Richmond, there’s a brewery called The Veil that has a year-round stout called Hornswoggler. It’s one of my favorite local beers and they continually do variations on it. Coffee, cinnamon, Oreos. The main version has a slight chocolate flavor to it.

More ginger, but it does fade over time. This one still has quite a bit left though. It’s a rock solid milk stout under the ginger spice.

Triple Crossing is probably my favorite brewery in RVA. Green Dreams is probably my all time favorite beer.

It’s up there for me as well. I have a few more I want to visit before I declare a favorite (chiefly The Answer). I haven’t had Green Dreams yet, keep missing it when they have it.

Along with Leftovers for dinner. I told my daughter I’d be bringing my beer to the parent teacher conference, she said the principal would kick me out.
Her teacher is a first year, and if my kid doesn’t make it memorable, I’ll have to!

It used to be, but it was such a hit the first year (12 I think) they have steadily increased production every year since. This year’s will release on 11/4 and will be pretty easy to get locally until probably February.
The different variants will be really hard to get though. Coffee, rum barrel, bourbon barrel, brandy barrel, etc.

It’s low key one of the absolute best craft beer cities in the country right now. There was an online publication that recently did a “top 176 DIPA/IIPAs” list and The Veil made the list twice, and Triple Crossing had TWO beers in the TOP FIVE.

Shouldn’t drink any soda then. I’ve mostly cut coke out of my life. It was tough at first but it’s better in the long run
