Any identifying features (that you should keep secret) that you can look for on parts on craiglist.
I for example, believe I identified an interior part of my civic (stolen last week) because one being sold locally has the same scratch.

How do they steal them? Hot-wire or rollback? If most of them generally get stolen via hot-wire, a good and relatively cheap option would be a kill switch. If rollback, obviously the kill switch wouldn’t do you any good!

It had a killswitch, but it was in a fairly common place so its likely they found it. Plus I picked it up from a from a shop the day before, I’d flipped it and the guy there saw. I mentioned it to the police.

I never gave them my address, but I walked in with the trailing arm for them to press the bushing out. There’s only two apartment complexes within walking distance of them.
But that’s assuming it had anything to do with them of course.

At night I’ve walked past there going to the gas station next door for cigarettes. I’ve seen people there at night (around 8) figured they were just working overtime. I’m thinking about doing a short stakeout tonight.

Here’s the thing. I wasn’t, but I went to the shop and asked them if they could weld the hole shut, since I would have to drill into it.
They said to bring it in for them to look at. The next day I call and they said they got the bolt in no problem.
Go to pick it up and the guy asks me if I’ve been having starting issues. I say no, but it has a kill switch, must’ve flipped it out of habit when I dropped it off.
Anyway. The guy walked out to the car with me and saw me get in and flip the switch back off. That was yesterday afternoon and it was stolen this morning.
Seems a little fishy to me. I mentioned it to the police and he said he’d check it out.

Yeah, the switch was out of sight. On the other side of the panel beneath the steering wheel. Although it’s a manual so it could’ve just been push started, since the kill switch is only for that starter motor.
