I’ve had a couple of beers but looking at Autotrader, after looking at a Subaru Impreza concept on Jalopnik made me think of the Subaru Levorg.
It’s a 1.6 litre petrol with 167bhp, but it’s automatic only and 39mpg. That’s not 39USmpg but 39UKmpg(32.5USmpg)
So why do I want this when I could have a manual, petrol Skoda Superb Sportline estate in dragon green?

It’s a spec up from what I’ve got (SE L Exec) and it’s in estate form.
I’d still go for the 148bhp 1.4TSi ACT.

The Levorg looks good but the gearbox, mpg and engine let it down for me.
I get 25% more mpg from my Skoda 1.4TSi and I get a manual gearbox.

Not so good?! Most North American Subaru owners would kill to get 32mpg. I think my coworker is pulling around 15mph. It’s so bad, even with our cheap petrol, that he avoids driving when we all go out to lunch. The guy with the jacked-up V8 F-150 gets better fuel economy...
I dig the Levorg, too.

I’m surprised it’s gas mileage is rated so low. Over here the Legacy has a 2.5l, weighs more, and is rated up to 34mpg highway.

We don’t have the Legacy (since 2014), but we do have the Outback Legacy 2.5 petrol rated at 40mpg UK (33mpg US).
The Levorg here, you’d think would do better mpg than a larger engine.
Take the Ford Mondeo/Fusion estate.
Petrol (larger, more power, less economy)
2.0 Ecoboost 236bhp does 37mpg while the
1.0 Ecoboost 123bhp does 54mpg.
Diesel (larger, more power, less economy)
2.0 TDCi 147-207bhp does 52-64mpg while the
1.5-1.6 TDCi 113-118bhp does 74mpg.

I was going to go for the estate when I got Piglet but didn’t need all that size after having the Mk2 Superb estate.

Why do I have to be trapped in America? It’s not fair that you have other options for family cars besides minivans (non-driving fucks), four door pickups (priced up like luxury MBs or Audis), and an amorphous gelatinous blob of CUVs.
Automakers, I have money, I have a kid, I have 2 dogs and a partner why you no can make a reasonable (<40K USD) wagon with modest long term maintenance (<$1500 annually)?

I think the Levorg is a great looking car. I’m incredibly angry with Subaru for not bringing it to the ‘States, especially considering that the US is one of Subaru’s biggest markets and they somehow manage to sell more wagons and hatches than any other automaker sells here.

The manual, hatchback and estate are still king but unfortunately autos and crossovers are creeping in with larger says each year.
The Skoda Superb estate would be ideal for you.
The 1.4TSi ACT 148bhp, 45-63mpg UK (37-52mpg US).
The 2.0TSi 276bhp, 36-53mpg UK (30-44mpg US).
The 2.0TDi 187bhp, 52-69mpg UK (43-57mpg US).
Many young families love the rear legroom as kids can’t reach the back of the front seats with their feet. Lol.

Yeah I’m guessing the UK has a better fuel economy test. The real world has shown that downsizing + turbo doesn’t necessarily mean better mpg, so perhaps the UK test better reflects that.

Americans just love Subarus. I believe it is the only brand in the US to show year over year sales growth every year since 2006. By building practical AWD cars and marketing them as adventure mobiles (particularly the Outback and the Forester) they were able to tap into the now massive crossover market 15+ years before the Crossover market became a thing.

Our areas near me while smaller and quicker to get through, unfortunately are still there. Yep, Cumbria’s west coast (Workington, Whiteaven, Maryport, Millom, Seascale, etc...). Where time forgot and the gene pool is really shallow. They are good swimmers though, the extras toes and webbing in between them really help propel them through the water.

Buick is here for you as long as you can put up with some unfortunate Outbacktification of your wagon.
Like all wagons, it’s better pre-Outbacktification, but automakers have basically decided the only way US consumers will buy wagons is if they’re Outbacktified.
There’s always a used Acura TSX wagon for your de-Outbacktified needs.
