Seriously. That makes me nuts. In my kitchen I put 42" cabinets on all my uppers, with the exception of over the range and the fridge. Even though it’s difficult for me to reach the back of the top shelf at 6'1 (and impossible for my 5'5 wife), I wouldn’t have it any other way. It’s just wasted space otherwise.

I’m continually impressed by the ugliness you find in light fixtures. This one looks like someone had some scrap leftover from a welding project and decided they could make a light fixture.
