I was thinking it is weird too, but the cab doesn’t have rears wither, so it would have to be in the middle of the load area or it would snap in half. If the cab/tractor had rear wheels, then the trailer wheels could be at the rear, but this is a 1 piece truck.
At least that is my thought

It’s halfway down the length of the box, evenly supporting both ends. Being a single rear axle, it probably doesn’t haul particularly heavy things, but rather bulky things.

I see trucks like this all the time on my way to work, those ones are FedEx Custom trucks. They appear to be long-haul time sensitive trucks that don’t need the space of a semi.

That’s a strait truck, it’s not a separate tractor/trailer. It’s unusual for those to have sleeper cabs, but not unheard of. They’re usually for small expedited loads. FedEx has a fleet of these. Quick direct shipping, but expensive.
