I got AT&T fiber-optic WiFi a couple days ago, and it’s supposed to be 50mbps down and 25 up. My phone is measuring 60mbps both ways, which is awesome, but my laptop and Xbox One are showing 25/25 and 20/11 respectively. (Xbox is in the next room, but the laptop was two feet from the router.)

What could be causing such massive disparity between these things? Do I need to call AT&T?

5GHz versus 2.4GHz bands will make a difference. Best way to measure speed is through ethernet directly into the residential gateway.

Also, if you have IPTV service (U-Verse TV) along with your Fiber Network connection, remember that the IPTV feeds will take up some of your bandwidth.

I have symmetric gigabit over fiber (yay!), but I have to literally take everything off the network in order to be able to measure speed accurately.

So a lot of it also maybe down to what bands your devices use. I would really recommend going low-tech if possible and get an ethernet cable for the xbox-modem/router.

The issue with many new routers vs older devices is that they use slower wifi standards. 5 vs 2.4 is also a very possible issue-5 tends to favor speed over distance from device
