...so let me make it up to you by posting some pictures of cars!
I managed to attend the last monthly Blackhawk Cars and Coffee gathering before it was canceled for the rest of the season,
because some idiots with more horsepower than brains keep tearing out of the FUCKING PARKING LOT
because of various reasons.
The changing of the season made for some interesting early morning shots of cars zipping around the parking lot in the scramble to find parking. This month’s gathering of course was much smaller than it was in the previous months, as new rules were introduced to prevent fuckery automotive shenanigans.
Still, there was ample opportunity to practice some low-shutterspeed nighttime tracking shots of some notable sports cars!

It’s improved. I remember a friend of mine racing people on electric skateboards at the C&C event where the M4 jumped the curb. Cars and Coffee SF is a shitshow compared to this. Nice photography though!

Lots of cool targa top cars here! Even a 911 targa that isn’t a targa! I’ll try to ignore that one Supra that should be a targa but isn’t, as well as the 575 I so badly wish was a Superamerica.

Also, are T-tops Targas with extra structural rigidity? This kinda stuff keeps me up at night.

We’ll see. There’s actually much more going on than I let on, but basically there’s a lot of politics involved with the whole change.
Part of it has to do with the locals not liking the noise the show generates. Other factors include the local police department not wanting to cover the show anymore due to a change in management and policy, and city management worrying about lost revenue for the mall where the show is located. Lastly, the show has grown to a point where even the Blackhawk Museum Board is having second thoughts about it.
What is obvious is that the new format for the show would address most of these issues by instituting an entrance fee and pushing the museum membership more for discounts and preferred parking.
Let’s hope that this new format ends up saving the show. If not, there’s always Canepa!

I think so. The owner wasn’t around but I attended the show with a really good friend of mine and he knows way more about bikes than I do.
He told me that the bike was definitely 2-stroke with six cylinders. Which means that there is literally an exhaust pipe for each cylinder.
It sounded glorious!

That’s it. T-tops are named for the T-bar that runs down the center of the car. Extra rigidity. Like you get on an old Firebird or an older MR2/300ZX/280ZX. I don’t think there are any t-tops here though :( I don’t think the Euros ever made any.

The mall is pretty mediocre, just my two cents. I really like this as it invited a lot of different people to come. I think preferred parking is good, but just needs someone with good taste (i.e. not organizers who have mudane biases toward supercars... but more like canepa that denied parking for someone with a new stock E-Class AMG sedan).
Fuck the locals. Blackhawk is weird as hell. Diablo Country Club is full of anti-cyclist assholes (in the most literal sense, they make sure to post up a good amount of anti-cyclist propaganda when you legally ride through it...).

To be honest, I haven’t even heard of half of the stores there. I mean, they have this boutique grocer that looks like it has really good food, but I can probably get the same stuff at my local Safeway.
I’ve actually never had a negative run in with the locals. Probably because I’m never in Blackhawk unless there’s a show going on. Some of the volunteers can get a little uppity though, so I have to tell my inner

oh yeah, if you want a Supra, there’s someone who told me the person who runs HMS plumbing (or something along the lines of that) has a supra they bought for their child. The Child blew the engine up.....this is a weird tipI got from this particular C&C, but it’s from about 1-2 years back.

Nah I meant the European manufacturers never built a car with t-tops. I’m sure there are plenty of Japanese cars sold there with t-tops - but they’re built in Japan ;)
