Oppo, its confession time. Thanks to an extremely gracious Police Officer I did not lose my drivers license today. Short story is I’m running late for college class, I attempted to get in front of a pickup truck to get in the correct lane, he objected and went full throttle, I stupidly mashed the gas to get ahead, in the process blowing through a yellow light. Police lights 2 blocks back, we both split. 4 turns and four blocks later he stops me. The police officer informed me that the number of things they could throw at me was not even funny and that a little mistake on the part of a pedestrian, or other motorist could have resulted in a very bad day for a lot of people. Definitely scared me. Don’t be dumb Oppo, don’t speed in town.

Could also tell the cop your taxes pay their salary. They love knowing where their checks come from.

Wait, so you tried to lose the cop? If I read that right, you’re lucky to not be arrested.
Honestly, we all have done similar things in a moment of irritation (mashing the gas, I mean) and regretted it later. The key is to learn from it.

Dude your so lucky, I can’t believe they didn’t arrest you after you decided to run from the cops.
I try to remember that if I’m going to fast and get arrested I’ll lose more time being pulled over than I would gain from speeding.

In some states, trying to lose the police in a motor vehicle is a fucking felony. Unless you’re already a huge criminal and are wanted for several warrants, there is 0 incentive for running, and even then it’s not exactly ideal.
Always pull over and get a lawyer.

Agreed, I was extremely lucky. I thought I would dodge him and not have the hassle. Thinking back it was really dumb. Out in the country Ive dodged the Highway patrol (before seeing the flashing lights) by darting into a back road. This being in town I should have just pulled over and explained the situation.
