So the Tacoma is going in for diagnostics tomorrow;

!!! UNKNOWN CONTENT TYPE !!!

We’ve had the family discussion and decided it’s time to move to a 3rd gen. We need a DCLB - and the 6500 towing rating fits our trailer just right.

The MSRP on a 2017 TRD Sport is $42,275 = $47,348 after taxes.

There are 22 third gen Toyota certified used DCLB in the province, prices range between $37,000 and $48,000. From what I’ve seen private sale prices are similar.

The plan is to have them do a trade value on our 2005, and see what they can offer. It has 192K km (119K miles) - new frame in 2015, and is well taken care of;

I’m confident that I could sell privately for $15,000 - but that might be after a $2000-3000 headgasket bill.. If they come back in the low teens we might be able to work something out.

Prinsu is coming with, don’t you worry..

Actually taking off my mods is going to be the next step; Ham, Squadrons, Prinsu, Maxtrax, BFGs and Winters are all going on the next one..

Yeah I know, thing is 98% of the time it’s a daily family hauler so the added $10K for the Pro in not likely, plus the short box means no couch carrying..

Looks like TRD Off Road package isn’t an option in CA. )=

No OR with a LB either, unless they changed that for the 3rd gen.

My Dad picked up his 17 DCLB TRD Sport 4x4 locally for about $32-33K. EDIT: (I didn’t realize you were in Canada) He didn’t get anything fancy on it. We printed out the invoice price list from tacomaworld and went down to the dealer. They beat invoice by $500.

I feel the need to suggest not getting a 2017 Taco. They have a TON of problems since outsourcing the majority of production last year.

Your 2005 got a new frame in 2015? Do tell...

My 2005 with 113k miles is developing the Tacoma Rust Hole on one side of the frame. I’d like to not have that anymore.

In other news, my 2005 got new tires yesterday.

I’d almost suggest you at least consider getting a newer 2nd gen instead. The jury is still out on the 3rd, there has been mixed testimonials this far.

Excellent.

Seriously, thanks for hunting it up in your post history. I’m not in Canada, but it tells me that I might possibly be able to get something done with mine. Although it is 2 years on...they may not want to do anything anymore besides offering a discount on a new truck.

It’s true and a 2015 would fit my radio just like mine does;

Kinja'd!!!

But the problem is prices for the 2015 TRD Sports are around $38,000 on the private market - for just a bit more you end up with a newer no fart model..

3rd gen Jury is taking their time; 2018 models are coming out next month so there are three years worth of the new model out there. 20,000 posts currently in the 3rd gen section of TW - most of them are saying the same thing.. it’s worth the move up. I’ve yet to read a thread from someone selling their 3rd to go back to a 2nd gen.

There are current threads on tacomaworld where owners are still getting new frames. I was just at our dealership and there were three new frames stacked up waiting to go in. Take it to your dealer and see.

Literally everything. The assembly process is screwed on the 17s. All kinds of electrical problems from wires pulled out of plugs, pins in plugs bent on install, the gauge clusters are faulty on a lot of them, the blower motors fall apart, diffs go bad, body mounts squeak and rattle, water leaks from the 3rd brake light, brake caliper bolts missing, AC line o-rings pinched during assembly, window malfunctions, emisions air pump faults........
