Kinja'd!!!

Look at this little man child piloting this tank.

Now look at Jesus driving the Miata.

Kinja'd!!!

This has been your daily posting about our lord and savior Miata.

EDIT: I’m officially a fanboy now, I love driving my ND.

They might as well have the same door window height from the ground. Look at this guy’s elbow.

THE WRONG CARS ARE TOO BIG, BECAUSE LAND YACHTS NEED TO BE BIG BUT OTHER CARS BEING REALLY BIG IS SILLY.

I wanna know why theres a stop sticker. Also why are they hiding the front and rear fascia? Did Jesus resurrect Pontiac and this is they have Trans Am bumpers on there?

The stop sticker is probably some risk management/safety thing.

I know a lot of fleets have “STOP: Before Driving, Check around car for hazards and damage” or something like that.

Small cars are too small for long use IMO. I love Miatas, but idk if I’d want to daily one.

And no, I’m not going to say my Mustang is the proper size. It’s a massive car. A friend of mine had an E46 M3 I drove briefly, that seemed about the right size. Big enough to be comfortable but not so big it felt like a burden.

I mean I sat in a Crossfire for 4.5 years and 100k miles. But the Miata is small. I’ve already had to pack smart with soft bags for a weekend away for two. Not to mention having to think about groceries and how big a pack of TP/paper towels you can buy.

I get its too small for most people, but I saw that Camaro photo and couldn’t get over how small that guy looks in it.

I saw a guy that looked exactly like that inside an RSX the other day so...maybe he’s just short and sitting low?

Miatas don’t have enough power and don’t have enough cargo space.

Enjoy that ND. Remember to take it autocrossing at least once if you haven’t already! It’s a great way to feel out the handling limits and characteristics in a controlled environment.

Also, I give the ND Miata due credit for not making the doors so stupidly tall. However, I’m forever bugged Mazda didn’t keep the characteristic hood bump seen from NA to NC.

Kinja'd!!!

The downside of older Miatas is that if you’re tall in the torso and/or over 5'9", then you’re going to have head clearance issues with either top up until you modify the seat.

I dont know man, with a window line that high and roof that low, I think thats where your head needs to be.

Rallycross is my first plan! Might autocross too, but I want to get sideways first.

Its actually comfortable to rest your arm on the door, unlike my Crossfire or Camaro above.

I’m 6'1" and fit in the ND quite nicely. Not voluminous, but theres enough room.

Oh man, Miatas are great at rallycross, they’ve won or at taken podium positions for RWD at SCCA’s annual nationals event.

2016 results

2017 results (this past weekend!)

Have you checked head clearance to the softtop and/or windshield frame while wearing a helmet? I have to slouch in mine NB2 or else I’ll rub on both the soft and hard tops.

Kinja'd!!! "Milky" (jordanmielke)
10/25/2017 at 09:50, STARS: 1

Have not checked but I think I’ll be okay. I’ve got like 4 finger width headroom when I’m just sitting normal. Sitting straight upright might be a problem, but I think I can avoid that.

Going to order winter wheels and tires soon, so it will actually do something in dirt. Then just have to get a helmet. I’m excited about it.

I hate the ND simply because it’s not friendly and approachable.

fuck off with your widebody-wannabe slanted rear fenders and squinty eyes.

Agree on E46. Very well sized car. That said, I’ve gone on weekend trips three states away in my Miata with my girlfriend. It swallows two large bags in the trunk and I can fit three smaller bags on the package shelf behind our heads. Certainly not amazingly practical but leagues better than, say, a Saturn Sky.

But the cabin is tiny, even for me. I would not be comfortable for that long of a drive

I’m not *that* much taller than you, though I am quite a bit bigger. Still, if given the option for a road trip between my Mustang or a Miata with a passenger, I take the Mustang all day every day.
