About a year ago, one of the Jalopnik authors posted an article about an insanely unsafe series of actions performed in traffic, and basically glorified the act until myself and many other commented about it. The article was later adjusted to not blatantly glorify driving like a fucking idiot on public roads, but the damage was apparently done. I had been able to post for quite some time, but after posting that comment directly calling out the author, I was put back in the grays.
These days, no matter who I ask on any number of articles, I’m still stuck permanently in the grays. I guess don’t criticize the authors on Jalopnik lest ye be silenced.

I’m pretty sure the article he if referring to is when that dude drove his Mercedes s class with a drastically overloaded trailer to the point it was deforming the rear end of the car

Well, but no, it’s not slower. It’s faster. It’s just electronically limited to a specific speed, which happens to be lower than the top speed of the Trackhawk. This does not mean the Demon is slower. It’s physically faster. Sigh...

I sent an email a while ago to Patrick George when they changed it due to the burners and he looked at a couple of my posts and ungrayed me. Worth a shot. Although at the time I don’t think he was editor in chief. Your best bet is probably Torch or Stef, assuming they can ungray.

I got greyed for disagreeing with Patrick George about the merits of a certain car brand (not Tesla). Since then I’ve noticed a similar pattern. I’m not sure if it’s ego or maturity. But if you can’t handle someone disagreeing with your viewpoint, you shouldn’t be on the internet.

Nope, it was about a video of two people driving like psychopaths and nearly causing an accident. The original tone of the article was like ‘lol these guys are so cool look at this mad driving video’. Now, I’ve engaged in egregious fuckery before but I don’t laud it on the internet or encourage others to do those things.

My personal opinion is that it’s becoming more and more a trend with this site, and I can’t help but notice the ever-increasing leftward lean and the association with forcing an echo chamber if you don’t agree with someone. I miss when Jalopnik wasn’t so politicized.

I used to be an approved commenter, heck I’ve even had multiple posts shared to the Jalopnik FP over the years. I got greyed quite some time ago though for what seems like no reason. I’ve never stirred shit up or decried any authors or articles.
The FP tone shift goes a bit deeper than all this though. It used to be like “Hey look at this cool car thing we found! Come hang out in the comments and discuss it with us!” You’d see multiple Oppo posts shared there per day from all sorts of authors.
Now nothing ever gets shared except for a few of their darling Oppo authors and the FP is all “we’re a srs publication now and we need to make all our own content and shovel it down your faces for you to consume’

I agree, which is why I haven’t click on Jalopnik since Jan 1st. Sort of a new years resolution that I would cut out negativity in my life. Plus most of their talent jumped ship with the implosion of Gawker.
If leadership changed at Jalopnik I would consider checking it out again, but it seems the whole Kinjaverse has gone down a hole of negativity since Trump was elected.
