Fuck you, fuck you, fuck you, fuck you, fuck you, fuck you, FUCK YOU!!!!

I just wasted 45 minutes on the Nurburgring 125 race because of the of god damn fucking bullshit instant tire wear.

I was just finishing lap 6 (out of 8), had plenty of fuel left, and the latest tire-wear notification said 85%, so I decided to skip the pits and go one more lap.

Two turns in, and the car literally stops turning. Turn the wheel and nothing. Catastrophic understeer. Car just plows straight off the track. I rewind and try again, and same problem.

Apparently, in Forza 7, the tires literally stop working if you don’t pit when the game tells you to. Never mind they were working fine 2 turns ago (because Forza has zero discernible tire wear). The tires just go from 100% to 0% instantaneously.

And I was just fat enough past pit entrance that I couldn’t rewind enough. And it’s the fucking Nurburgring, so I can’t exactly drive 13 miles on wooden tires.

So there’s 45 minutes of my life down the drain.

Btw, fuck you Forza.

So the game warned you to pit, and you didn’t listen. How is that the games fault?

I always run out of gas long before I kill the tires.

Because it’s a driving simulator. Tire wear isn’t an instantaneous occurrence. I should be able to feel the tires wear over the course of the race.

But Forza (a so-called driving simulator) displays zero difference between new/old tires, and nerfs the controls when it decides your tires are too old (btw, it never displayed “tires 100%” like it should have.

Disabling the steering is akin to invisible walls preventing you from leaving the playable area: it’s shoddy game design and evidence that the developers couldn’t be bothered to do it properly, so they implemented some BS mechanic with zero warning to the player.

If it were real life, my old tires wouldn’t suddenly stop working. They would either pop, or cause me to have slower lap times. Friction still exists, so I would still be able to steer.

See, I don’t know about that. I was more than happy to pit every two laps of the Nurburgring for tires, especially as by that point I had a big enough lead that I wasn’t losing position and the rest of the field also had to stop.

And look at the grip falloff of both F1 and Nascar tires. When they begin to lose grip, it goes fast. It was a discussion had by the commentators today...

I’ve never felt any discernible tire wear in any Forza game. Nor have I felt brake fade, or been able to tell the difference between a full and empty tank. They claim it’s part of the game, but I know they’re lying.

So rather than just not include it in the game, the developers just nerd the steering completely.

In Forza 6 I felt tire wear on Nurburgring. Though I’m driving with a controller, not a wheel...

Obviously YMMV

There is noticeable tire wear. Not really noticeable except I’ll see my lap time getting consistently slower (by like a couple tenths) but I’ve never done anything long enough to encounter what you did.

Yup. I’ve stopped playing entirely until the release the full game. It’s so utterly broken right now there is zero point to even trying.

Still haven’t patched the VIP credits yet. Just fucking over all their BS gambling boxes too.

Yeah, this is the first I’ve exhausted tires before gas. The little 4-cylinder Honda Civic touring car is surprisingly frugal!

Dude, I’ve played Forza since 2. I also have a couple thousand miles on track actually driving.

I also realize it’s a video game and having it gradually have tire wear is asking a lot.

Tire wear is asking a lot on Forza 1 or 2. But 12 years and 5 installments later, I’d expect them to have either cracked it or skip it altogether. The current system is some special kind of BS.

Back in Forza 2 you used to always kill the tires well before you ran out of gas but ever since 3 tires have always been a non factor.
