We want one for our Suchaser roadtrips, as much for posterity as for security. I want high quality video, but audio is not necessary. Not sure how I feel about GPS and Wifi. Concerned a bit about operation in high heat because San Joaquin Valley.

Any recommendations?

I don’t recommend the G1W-CB. Crapped out after about 6 months (I’m assuming from the heat) and it was the one with the capacitor, not a battery.

Also I wouldn’t get one with wifi or gps. It’s easy enough to upload to the computer. Most have a mini or micro usb for that. The GPS I just don’t see the point. I’d wouldn’t spend the money on one.

I think the GPS is for recording vehicle speed, which could be useful in court as proof you were going over the speed limit when ticketed or when someone crashes into you.

Almost all dash cams have audio these days, GPS could be used in your favor or against you in court, so keep that in mind. Check out Dash Cam Central on YouTube, they have lots of dashcam reviews.
