Classic Audi 100/200. When that day comes when I build my custom Vanagon Westfalia, this is the dashboard I want to install. To keep things period correct, I still have a NIB stalk-mount Blaupunkt SQM-88 to go into this car.

This was interesting to see. I drove a ‘78 Audi 100 when I lived in Germany: 4-cyl, 95 PS and a 4-speed manual. Base model, totally plain Jane. Drove it many miles. Great car. They were importing those to the US as the Audi 5000 with
TONNES
of added-on crap and the 5-cylinder engine, and many electrical problems. What year is the dash you posted?

I think that’s one the facelifted C3 model, after they changed the name in the US. I believe that would put it at around 1987-1990 or thereabouts.

Nah, it should be fairly simple analog wiring, especially with all the parts coming from essentially the same manufacturer. No CANBUS, no biodegradable wiring. You want to read about problems? I have two favorites.
First is the Saab 9000.
So slabby. Mmmm.
Second (and a weirder choice) is the first Mitsubishi Outlander.
I can’t explain it, but there’s something about it that I really like.

The one in the follow up. I love the lines that go staight across the dash with the vents.
