This is theoretically a six figure car, and the auction is turning into a train wreck because the seller doesn’t seen to know how to sell a classic muscle car, and it seems like BaT hasn’t given him the advice he needs, either. The comments section is getting pretty testy after only 1 day.
Sad because it’s a gorgeous car, and I love old muscle cars - I’d love to see BaT become a great venue for those, and not just import collectibles.

That was telling there. If you look at the underhood picture you can almost imagine that it was intentionally shot of center to keep it out of the photo, if you’re very cynical.
And he still doesn’t seem to grasp that telling us the numbers isn’t the same as posting pictures of them.

The driver door has definitely been repainted or replaced. There’s no way it would of left the factory like that.

I was actually the first to point that out in the comments. I knew Chrysler quality control was shaky back then, but it’s a huge stretch to believe that’s original. And look at the paint thickness readings. They vary a fair amount.
Admitting to that door being a repaint wouldn’t kill the value, either. The car is 47 years old.

I think it’s possibly a decent quality repaint that’s just very old, and has faded differently. Regardless it can’t be original.

The driver’s side fender and quarter were resprayed/blended and the door replaced (or stripped and resprayed off the car at a different time than the quarter/fender work) - I think that’s pretty clear.
I didn’t go through the whole of the comments but something about the listing is a little weird. Hopefully it goes well for him; I doubt BaT would have agreed to an unrealistic reserve (they don’t get their comission if it doesn’t sell) so time will tell.

I would be surprised if the reserve was under $100k. The listing presentation is completely unworthy of that price, and the seller seems to think that anecdotes will substitute for cold, hard facts. The seller is failing here, but BaT has failed the seller here, too. That may be what frustrates me the most. I’d like to see the site become a better venue for old muscle cars, but it really is falling short of that mark here.

Sellers provide details to BaT, who write the listing. The seller then must approve the writeup, so there isn’t a lot to be left as BaT’s “fault” - reserves are negotiated in a similar manner.
At the same time, yes it would be cool to see more variety of cars coming through their auctions, but it was also a decision of the seller “Hey I’m going to try to auction my supposedly-$300k muscle car through a site that rarely sells muscle cars!”

I know, but BaT has a vested interest here in getting this right, in order to get the full commission and not just the listing fee, as well as building their credibility in the muscle car market. Supposedly they curate their listings, which ought to mean doing DD to get it right.

And it would be even more true if the seller has known the car from day one- why look at engine stampings if you’ve known the car since 1970, and that the engine is untouched?

$40-50 might be a good bet. But when things are “said to be,” and “believed,” then I don’t think so, Sir. I don’t even care much for the car itself... Not my style. I’d rather have something from the 60s that Dad bought to pull the trailer in summer with the four-speed and the big-block V8 and the towing package, locking rear end, et cetera. It’s not my cup of tea, either - in general, I like GM>Ford>Mopar, and mid’60s over the late 60's/early 70s. On top of that, I’m actually not a big pony car fan (really). GM A-and B-bodies are my true love, but I enjoy anything from that era. You might like the ‘64 Sportwagon that went up Friday, too - although the 300/2bbl/ST300 won’t impress you.
But this is still a cool car, and I hate to see it get trashed because the seller is clueless (or worse).
