5.0 w/ solid axle just seems so right to me right now. Not sure if I’d want an auto for full ‘Merica or a stick.

The one in your picture isn’t a 5.0

Anyways, I need to find one of these to drive and compare to my S550. I did drive one before I bought my Ecoboost, but that was so long ago.

Do it. Had mine since 2011. Fun and dead reliable.

I actually prefer the looks of the early version of the S197 before it was updated in 2011. Nonetheless, I have to say that my 2014 Mustang seemed to be a higher quality vehicle than the 2006 that I had before it. Both of those were of the V6 variety, albeit with the old 4.slow (w/ 5 spd manual) in the ‘06, and the much healthier 3.7 (w/6 spd manual) in the ‘14... plus the ‘14 had the Performance Package. I like the solid axle - it seems so robust! However, the S550 (with the IRS) is definitely a better riding, better handling car. The ‘14 was perfectly capable at carving through the curves, but bumps in the middle of a corner would upset the rear end, causing it to lurch sideways a bit as it compressed. More quirky than anything, but I always wondered how it would have felt if I would have sprung for a Watt’s Link. I wish I would have done it. A solid axle 5.0 with the Watt’s Link should be a fun car...

(Full disclosure - I know that according to the math, the amount of sideways movement of an S197 rear end due to the stock panhard bar is minimal. However, having traded my S197 in for an S550, and having driven both cars on the same curvy roads, I can tell you it was noticeable and annoying in the older car. That is why I am curious if the Watt’s Link would have fixed that quirk as I experienced in the seat of my pants, or how much the other differences between a solid axle vs. IRS were factoring into the handling).

They were gorgeous, especially in Boss trim. I wish they’d do another Boss.

I own one and might be selling it soon.

The car is great but damn does it eat up rear tires. It’s been by far the most reliable car i’ve ever owned too. I haven’t even had a single warranty repair.

I’m switching cars only because I found that I like sport compacts more. It’s a large vehicle for me and I don’t feel like I need 400+hp.

BTW the manual on this car is good but I always had issues shifting it where I never had problems on a WRX. I grind gears much more often but it requires a man’s touch lmao.

A friend of mine has the current mustang and he’s had all sorts of problems with reliability. IDK what they did with these but they got it right on that end they are a tank. I beat the shit out of this car and it still is perfect.

Drives like butt. I test drove one for the hell of it and it was complete garbage. Over any bumps the rear end bounces everywhere and gives you no confidence around a corner. Truly a motor in a body like the F-body’s.

Facelifted one is best of that generation. I HATED the tail lights with the bottom edge that dipped down instead of being a single edge. Plus the black surrounds look sweet.
