Have I told you I love this car?

I love this car.

Sure it has 145k miles, some form of damage on every panel, rust spots on the hood, roof, and door, the driving lights shake like jello in an earthquake (who would have thought factory brackets wouldn’t have been strong enough for the bigger Hellas?), and everything in the interior squeaks.

But it has tons of personality. It’s basically a FWD puppy. It tries really hard to be fast but ends up just bouncing from corner to corner making wonderful growling noises. Flooring it in second with the windows down never fails to put a smile on my face and the fact that it isn’t actually fast means I can floor it without getting into trouble. Sure a Cooper S is faster but I don’t really care. I love hustling MY Cooper around. It’s certainly going to be part of my garage for a very long time.

You know what, I think you did, ye’, you did now you mention it.

Cars like that are endearing and it’s little quirks make it more so.

If someone offered me a straight trade of my Cooper for a Cooper S I wouldn’t take it. That changes if a GP1 is being offered though.

I like them but am terrified by everything I’ve ever heard about the reliability.

When taken care of they aren’t as bad as the internet would have you think. The only ones to really be scared of are the 2007-2010 S models.
