So.. a couple of weeks ago I bought a 2016 Kia Picanto 1.0 Uefa euro 16 edition (longest model name ever?)

Took delivery of said car today and drove it from my hometown in Norway to the closest shopping centre in Sweden (about 284km/176miles in total). Fuel consumption perhaps not as good as I’d hope.. but 47mpg(us) ain’t that bad.

First pic is at the dealer, second pic is at home with just the DRL’s on.. and yeah.. they are bright as fuck

47 MPG? Holy sheet that’s amazing. Cool car too. I don’t know squat about these. Is it turbocharged?

I’m guessing that engine was working pretty hard if you were going over 100 kmh, thus the not so good fuel economy, according to my gov. website that car should get 60 mpg in highway and 38 mpg in the city.

It’s not one of those cars that will set your life on fire (nor is mine), but it’s a great solid little car that does what you want it to do very well.

It’ll be great fun on twisty roads though.

Happy motoring.

It’s a bloody blast on the twistys for sure.. And I’m mighty impressed how much torque the little 1.0's got.. never any need to go above 4k.. could cruise along at 60kmh in fifth gear.

Thanks mate.. I love the colour ;P And it’s got all the extras.. heated seats, heated steering wheel, heated mirrors that fold in at the touch of a button. Multifunction steering wheel etc.. the only thing missing are parking sensors..

1.0 60hp NA engine. Plenty of torque, never any need to go above 4k rpm. Cruising along at 37mph in fifth gear.

I know Norway’s expensive but going 142 km so you can do your shopping in Sweden does seem a little excessive!

142 km one way.. :P Even with 240 NOK in fuel I spent about 600 NOK less shopping in Sweden than I’d’ve done in Norway. With the new car I can drive 250km once a month and buy almost everything I need in Sweden and save about 2000 NOK.

Holy balls that fuel economy is brilliant. I get about 19mpg US in the city, and 30mpg US on the highway...and that’s with a 2.5 I4...

Tiny car, tiny fuel consumption :P

I love it though. Drove about 155 miles today, it felt great. Actually better than the 300 miles I usually drive in a Mercedes Sprinter Panel Van at work.

Yeah, I’ve got heavy car, plus AWD, plus not much power, so not great fuel economy.

That’s pretty awesome

In Europe a 2.5L engine is high(ish) displacement. Especially nowadays, with the downsized turbo engines.

From the many cars I’ve owned there’s one with a 2.5, all others had less. Most are/were enthusiast cars and/or classics.

Norway’s dear. I visited in 2013 but having done my research I flew to Västerås instead, a place not noted for being in Norway, and hired a car there instead because it was about half the price.

Also, I managed not to pay any of the endless Norwegian tolls. The hire company said I should just drive away and they’d charge me the tolls. I did and they didn’t.

Indeed it is.. I just call it Pia, simply because I talk fast as fuck and managed to say I’d bought a Pia Kicanto. Pia is also a somewhat common girls name here in Scandinavia.
